Dragonwell tea.

I bought some dragonwell tea from teavana and I wonder what's the best way of steeping. It says 45-60 seconds but do I steep longer for every steep after that. Also how do I know when tea leaves are completely used up?

Most of my second steeps are actually a bit shorter than my first steeps..by 15 to 13 seconds maybe as after the first steep the leaves are more "woken up" already. after the second I usually bump up temp and time incrementally. The leaves are spent when I cant coax out any more flavor! sometimes thats 3 steeps, sometimes 10 depends on the tea. :P ok..so the 10 is usually a nice Oolong but you get my point. 3 to 5 on most dragonwells for me..same with japanese greens. But thats just me..also depends on your parameters..how much leaf to water ratio you use etc.. to each his own tho.

thank you very much. It makes sense that you would steep it shorter the second time and the third time you steep it for longer and at a higher temperature to make sure that all the leaves are coaxed.
