I can only share my negative experience with Braun and Kamjove kettles.
The stainless steel Braun WK600 (for which I paid EUR110) started to emit burnt plastic smell after less than two years in use. I am yet to take it to the service center, but I lost my confidence in their kettles.
After Braun I switched to a 0.8L Kamjove T-80 (
http://www.hailea.com/kamjove/E-kamjove ... T-80-1.htm) which is much better suited for gongfu. Unfortunately it had a slight metallic taste at the very beginning, which only got stronger. Right now it is completely unusable because of this unpleasant metallic taste and smell.
I am now boiling my water in a glass stovetop kettle from Trendglas, but will most probably get myself an induction kettle from Kamjove with a replacement glass jar. You can find both items at e.g. Dragon Tea House on Ebay.

I have this kettle:

It is great. Boils fast. Automatically shuts off. Costs little $$$. I've had it at least 6 months and used it multiple times per day...so far so good.
Happy shopping,
