Monday TeaDay 11/09/09 Traveling Tea?

by Chip » Nov 9th, '09, 00:50

Greetings everyone, welcome to TeaDay. Please do drop in and share what is in your cup throughout the day.

Yesterday we discussed areas in our homes that are virtually dedicated to tea preparation and/or enjoyment ... or not. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.

Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. Traveling and tea ... I mean the actual journey part of it. When driving, commuting, traveling from point A to point B, does brewed tea travel with you? How do you do it? Please share with us.

I am looking forward to sharing this TeaDay with everyone. Bottoms up.

Almost never, since I use public transportation, I don't want to be stuck with dragging a thermos around all day. On the rare occasion that I do, I travel as easy as possible with a $tarbuck$ stainless steel travel thermos.

I don't believe I've ever had tea while driving. I might do it while a passenger, but not while in the driver's seat. I try not to be too distracted while driving.

In any case, no tea again this morning. Maybe when I get back from work...

I almost always have a cup of tea in the car when I set out on some traveling. In a handmade "American Yunomi"........ often totally mis-labeled as a "coffee cup" of "coffee mug" .

best,

.................john

Often but not all the time,

I usually try to drink some tea before I head out but if Im running late or just feel the urge I take some in one of Johns "American Yunomi"s

If you mean takeing tea for an overnight trip to brew then I would almost always take some. Especially so I can "convert" some people to the tea side.

Other day I took a paper filter and stuffed it with "expired" fuka, threw it in my water bottle. Gave Den's cold brew pouches a run for its money.

I bring tea with me most of the time.

For day trips I bring an insulated cup for the drive,a Zojirushi sport thermos for any hiking, and a stainless 16oz thermos for refills.

For work I skip the sport thermos because I won't be hiking.

For multi-day trips I just bring an insulated cup, for the start of the drive, and good tea bags, for the rest of the trip.

Zao Bei Jian congou is in my cup right now.

If there's not a travel mug or disposable cup in my hand, then there is certainly some tea stashed in my purse and/or suitcase. You can count on it.:)

Happy Monday, everyone. Hope it's a good one!

tea comes to class with me sometimes. if i get up early enough to toss some leaves in my glass jar and add some water. usually only chinese greens. i am interested in trying oolongs this way.

generally tho i tend to simply start my teaday after classes and drink while working throughout the day.

today, typically, a chinese green. in a gaiwan. grandpa style.

Often, but not most of the time - gets my vote. This happens if I need to be somewhere early other than work. Work mornings I have tea at home then again when I get to work. But If i need to get up early and have no time to drink tea at home, I will brew to go. I usually use a glass thermos. And after YEARS and YEARS, I finally found a solution to my car cup holder's lousy design. So I may find myself doing it more often now.

This morning's cup was Imperial Teas Foshou Hon Cha, delicious!

Have a nice day everyone!

My husband and I love to take journeys in the car on weekends and when we have free time. (I know, I know, not good for the environment...)

I always take brewed tea with me. I use either a travel mug or a thermos, sometimes two of them! Bottled water goes along too. But there's nothing like a cup of what you love. Often the travel is to a teahouse too! Or somewhere I can stop for a decent cup...

Today I'm once again drinking Queens Red from Tea Gallery. I've been trying some experiments with resteeping with this tea. I like how it has mellowed with time.

Junpana Imperial Muscatel today...

Hey Victoria, I can't find the foshou hon cha tea on Imperial teas, it's not a red tea or oolong?

I don't travel with brewed tea. I however take always at least a porcelain kyuusu and some tea when I am away from home.

Otsuusan sencha in a few minutes.

And I try not to be too distracted while drinking tea! So I try to make time in the morning for tea. Even this morning (on a busy day), I just sat down for 10 minutes for two infusions of oolong. Better than nothing. And then I took the leaves to work in my glass thermos.

Am still enjoying seven cups' 2007 Shui Xian. I keep expecting to grow tired of it but haven't yet.

Good question, I guess it is an oolong processed as a black instead of the usual other way around. It's hard to find on the site because it's under Taiwan. Imperial Teas Buddha's Hand - Foshou Hon Cha. This is a great tea with beautiful large leaves. I have been very impressed with it:

Today is a very sad day; the funeral of a close friend. He will be greatly missed by many.
