nasty white dots inside brita filter.

i have a brita pitcher, on the bottom of the filter there are nasty white dots everywhere, looks like some sore of mold. what is it?

Scale? Mineral deposits? Contact Brita perhaps?

pictures would be nice, but if they are fuzzy it might be mold. Otherwise it might be "salt" deposits from your water.

It might be mold if you have never dried it out often enough, otherwise I'd go with mineral deposits from the water.

I get black flakes in the top part sometimes but thats just flecks from the filter. When was the last time you changed your filter?
