Wednesday TeaDay 11/11/09 TeaWARE Green Card?

by Chip » Nov 11th, '09, 01:59

Greetings and welcome to TeaDay. I hope you will stop in and share what is in your cup throughout the day.

Yesterday we discussed "green card teas." You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.

Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. Simple yes or no, answer this question ... Have you purchased TEAWARE directly from another continent? Please share what prompted this seemingly bold move with us.

I am looking forward to sharing this TeaDay with everyone. Bottoms up.

I quite often (perhaps too often) buy teaware from Japan and I bought also once from Taiwan.

Keemun Mao Feng Imperial this morning.

I've bought a couple of pieces directly from Japan. On the Chinese teaware side, most of my purchases also came from China, but I'm pretty sure most of them came through eBay. The rest came from vendors based in the US who had already imported the items.

Today is a day off (Happy Veteran's Day for those in the US!!), and so I get to enjoy tea all day. I'm wrapping up with the shui xian I started the other day, and I will move on to a couple, I hope, by the end of the day!

I've bought a kyusu and a chawan directly from Japan. All of my other teaware I purchased from an American company... which may have come from a different country. I made the purchases because I trusted the company and wanted authentic equipment. :)

Happy Birthday Brad.

I don't have a lot of teaware but most of it was shipped from China and Japan. Accumulated TeaChat wisdom gave me the tools that I needed to decide what to buy. (Where did all of that Hagiyaki come from?)

I've been in a dark mood lately, so zao bei jian congou is in my cup again this morning.

Yep, just once though. I got a gaiwan from Dragon Tea House (China.) The post mark on the box said Hong Kong.
I kept it because I really like the way it looks. lol

I definitely plan on getting more teaware from China, hopefully soon.

Reading through the posts, it looks like China is definitely second to Japan in this topic.
It's ok China, I'll still get stuff from you!

Artistic Nippon and O-cha. Both are great! I got 2 banko kyusu's from Artitic Nippon, one for sencha and one for gyo and they are amazing. One broke in shipping and it was immediatly and easily replaced. I got a non banko kyusu (I use it for other teas) with matching cups white interior ciups that I use for gyo. I got those from o-cha. I have quite a few chawan, all of which I got through American artists that I saw in the artisan threads. I'm pretty much done with teaware. Of course I'd like more but I have everything I need. All funds go to tea or to be saved for my Yankee tickets for next year and xmass! If I had more disposable income I would def buy more teaware, but alas that is not the case :)
Den's Zuiko and Yame Fukamushi for an awesome teaday. Organic Matcha from Den's soon!

Hi olivierco - which Keemun Mao Feng do you like, if I may ask? (Which company is this from?)

As with tea, I rarely order directly from another continent because I have so many places that import for me first. Although I would like to try this ...

Today I am drinking Den's Zuiko and Yame Fukamushi. These are really outstanding.
