Greetings everyone and welcome to TeaDay. I hope you will stop in and share what is in your cup throughout the day.
Yesterday we discussed tea selections at work/school. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.
Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic again goes to work/school. This time, your teaware at work is great, good, ok, barely passable, pass me the teabags. Please share specifically about how you rate your work/school teaware.
I am looking forward to sharing this TeaDay with everyone. Bottoms up.

Re: Saturday TeaDay 11/14/09 TeaWork, er ware?
"Almost great" I take my Hagiware to work and always have nice cups there including porcelains, but not pots. My best pots are at home and I would never risk taking those in.
Re: Saturday TeaDay 11/14/09 TeaWork, er ware?
I am lucky in that I can have a very nice cubicle area, hang up some art, have a kettle on my desk (other people can use for tea too)
A few cheap yixing, no gaiwan (too risky), but nice cups. My seigan blue hagi is my current fav cup at work. I drink a bigger variety of tea at work, black, greens, oolong, pu'erh.
Home I tend to drink 90% pu'erh

I tend to keep the really good pieces out of the studio when I am working...... too easy to break something.
At the college I usually take my favorite mug.

Right now I'm using one of those double-walled glass thermoses at work, so I called it "good." It's not great or awesome, because it limits the type of tea I can have, and because of the method of drinking (i.e. drinking from the thermos), you have to be extremely careful on leaf amount and how fast you think you're going to drink it.
On second thought, I've moved to a much bigger office recently and it would be pretty easy to get in a decent tea setup. Hrm, I'll have to think about that.......!
This morning, trying some 2008 Imperial Mei Zhan from Seven Cups. It seems to have the strongest fruitiness of the rock oolongs I tried so far from Seven Cups. I have to say that the aroma of this tea is spectacular.
I was wrong about yesterday -- it still rained the whole day. And it's still cloudy now, though it doesn't look like it's raining too hard. I hope this Nor'Easter/Ida is done...!! One good thing about it.... at least I know that my roof doesn't leak.
Have a great TeaDay everybody!

When I go into the office I bring a stainless thermos with me, usually filled with the rock tea of the day. When that's gone I supplement with good tea bags from Adagio and Sugimoto. I don't keep any teaware or tea prep tools at the office and I drink out of a porcelain mug. When I have to start working on-site more often I might bring in a set of civilized tools.
Ahhhh... Rock tea this morning for the first time all week. Jing's seasonal DHP is in my cup.

No office for me, just a desk at home. I use what I like - which is typically not the "best" teaware I own (in a sense of its expense and beauty) anyway, but I use whatever I feel like using each day.
Today, once again Yunnan Gold Tips from Ito En. Enjoying the tea and its many steeps so far

No teaware at work for me. Other than what I bring it in with in me.

What I have at work is okay, but nothing I'm really attached to in case of breakage / loss / mysterious disappearance.
Black Dragon Pearls followed by Nilgiri Chamraj this morning. I was not liking the Chamraj much, but found that using cooler water brings out a much nicer flavor. Yay, since I have a lot left to use up!

No teaware in work, I'm only in 21 hrs a week so it doesn't bother me too much
Some smokey caravan from Nothing But Tea just now. The smoke is far more subdued and pleasant than the big tin of Lapsang I've been avoiding on the shelf. Nothing outstanding but a nice tea.

I know it's not English, but Chamraj sounds like some crusty gunk that form on a teapot or something. Glad it tastes better than it sounds?geeber1 wrote: I was not liking the Chamraj much, but found that using cooler water brings out a much nicer flavor. Yay, since I have a lot left to use up!

Generally second or third string teaware, mostly basics. But a few things are important, an old beat up kyusu, a pitcher, a nice Asian style cup, some measuring devices, and I am good to go. Of course, if I am working at home, the sky is the limit.
Began the TD with Hatsumi from O-Cha. Quite liking this one this year. SweeTea seems to like it as well, but Wulong and Pyrit were content to observe.

I'm self-employed so my work environment is my home environment, which means I have the same Teaware. Makes life that much more simple and no coworkers to screw them up!

Re: Saturday TeaDay 11/14/09 TeaWork, er ware?
I have a mug that my mother gave me years ago that has a cartoon picture of two yellow chicks on it that says "chick with brains and chick with style." It is practical since it came with a coaster, but it is not nearly as nice as my other tea cups that I have at home. I have no attachment to it, so it works to keep on my desk at work and not worry if other people will take it. I also have an infuser basket to brew tea in, but no tea pots or other tea ware.
Currently, I am enjoying a Thurbo Darjeeling from the Lochan tasting in my shyrabbit yunomi.
