Hi there

Came across this while looking for a kettle for my home office.

Any thoughts?

Hey Bongo,
Nice looking kettle.
Ed - I tried the capresso - awful - returned it immediately - overpowering plastic odor that wouldn't go away no matter what I did.
For me, I always look for no plastic in contact with the water. Makes it hard/impossible to shop online.
So, I'll try only to purchase in person so I can inspect.
I currently have the Chef's Choice International 685 - all stainless inside - accept for the water level "max" indicator, and a plastic nut inside the lid that keeps the lid handle in place. It's very possible to keep water off this plastic - although can't control for steam condensate and subsequent drippage.
But I haven't been able to find a totally all-stainless interior kettle.
When I do - I'll get one!!! :D
Cheers.

Also be warned with the Capresso, I think it has a much higher minimum amount of water.

Had it, it was cool, it died on the 91st day after purchase with a 90 day store return policy ... they took it back anyway.

I am happy w/o it.

I'm really happy with the Capresso. It heats water quickly. There is no plastic contact in it. There is a minimum, but I've gone below it with no problems. I bought 3, 1 for my self 2 for my family, and have never had any problems with them.

Glad to hear you are enjoying it Ed. I would not have bought it if I did not like it, but after croaking so quickly, I am gun shy with it, perhaps.

I just thought the OP might want some positives too. With every manufactured good, some don't work well.

Hi bongoman
striking kettle... simple and stylish design...

but, if you're in such a kind of stuff and seeking after a glass kettle for your home tea time, maybe you can consider the Bodum Clara.
Yes.. of course it's a bare not electric kettle, but you can put it on a direct flame or on an induction stove or microwave it. I've been using it since a while and it works a treat.
No odd odors, funny to look at and very well done.

Love Bodum, that's cool looking.
I prefer electric, but still.

I love Bodum also! Baku - does the handle get hot?

Absolutely not, but be wary to put it on a medium size ring...

That's a nice looking kettle bongoman.

I've been using this Morphy Richards kettle for a few years as my main kettle and I really can't complain at all.

Might be worth chucking a bit of bamboo charcoal in whatever kettle you end up getting.

Check this one out. It's a bit pricey, but it's the only glass kettle I've found that has a nice long spout for great control over the pour. If pouring accuracy and aim is important to your style of brewing, then it's perfect. I love mine.

Metal attachment of the wood handle means it could not be used in a microwave. A few with long spouts in link below. I would prefer them for the side attached handles as far as control/accuracy goes.

Bodum Clara- to be used in a microwave, both the whistle and mostly metal top cover must be removed :(.

Other *all* glass tea pots with 'heat resistent' (not sure if all 'tempered glass' is equal, suppose it also depends on thickness as there are many reports of doublewalled drinking/tea glasses made of borosilicate being very easy to break) in differing sizes.

Wish all of the larger capacity models had thicker glass handles, would make them easier to handle/control.
