how healthy is drinking tea?

by Meowmeow » Nov 29th, '09, 20:36

I dont think im the 1st person to ask, but how healthy s drinking tea? I drink a lot, and im worried i may be dinking too much. I drink at least 5-6 cups a day. My mom is always saying I need to drink more water, but isnt tea just flavored water? By drinking tea, I'm getting all the water i need, arent I? I'm always obsessing over my health, i dont know why i'm that way though. And also... could drinking too much tea cause stomach aches? Any answers you have for me would really help, thankyou!

Many people here experience Nausea from drinking tea on an empty stomach. And as long as you aren't adding a lot of sugar or milk to the tea tea is very healthy. It has also been shown to be great at hydrating, and while nothing can replace water, tea will also hydrate you.

You shouldn't get a stomach ache from drinking too much tea. But if you do then cut back. Most of us here probably drink considerably more than 5-6 cups a day and we are fine.

As Adam says, it's healthy and yes you are getting water. Just don't be adding sugar and you'll be fine.

Tea is good for people who eats meat daily (Tibetan, Mongolian), or who eats greasy food (Chinese) and who has a high blood-pressure or who wishes to go on diet. It contains a natural flourine but drinking too much rather destroy protective layer of teeth.

Caffeine reacts differently on beginner and regular drinker, drinking on a daily basis will help develop a way against speedy reaction.

In Asia, tea is known to equip 'cold nature' so not recommended for one who has a cold body (some Puerh drinkers said Big Leaf Variety reacts the opposite), and green tea is known to go harsh on empty stomach.

In Japan, tea is reported to help immune against swine flu

Heaviest drinker of tea is reported to be Tibetan (50 cups a day), followed by Irish and English

Tea drinking is such a nasty habit. I try to stay away from the stuff, personally speaking.
