Friday TeaDay 12/04/09 More focus ... types of teaware?

by Chip » Dec 4th, '09, 00:44

Greetings TeaFriends. Please stop in and share what is in your cup throughout the day.

Yesterday we discussed general Tea type focus. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.

Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. Eh, why not. Are you acutely focused on one general type (i.e. Yixing) or more types of TEAWARE presently? Please share with us where you are at these days including the type or types.

I am looking forward to sharing this TeaDay with everyone. Bottoms up.

Well, of course I find myself acutely focused on and drawn to Chawan. :D
But I am also drawn to (and almost equally) hagi, yixing, various other yunomi, chataku, well, the list could go on.

Pretty focused on tea canisters... as I need two more chazutsu, I'm looking for them... but I'm not in a hurry, so I can relish the pleasure of a careful survey.. :)

Not really. I dabble a little here and there, the more I focus the more my wallet cries. Blurry ignorance is bliss.

I just found a jar with nigh on 100g of dan cong I'd forgotten about, result!!
I don't think it's anything special, I certainly didn't misplace 100g of Imem's tea, but I've not had any dan cong for a while and it's nice to find stuff unexpectedly.

Japanese teaware for me.

If I had to pick one type, chazutsu.

This one has just landed at Roissy Airport.

olivierco, that is just gorgeous. Thanx for sharing.

Well, although we own many different types of teawarz, currently I am favoring Hagi, however our own TeawareArtisians wares are running a close second. :)

Of course, this is today's opinion, tomorrow could be another story! There are just way too many cool things to make a definitive and absolute decision. So ... I guess I really can't answer the poll question with certainty at this time.

I have a variety of tea ware, but from a collectible stand point I love Hagi above all else.

I only wish I jumped in on the special offers more quickly.

Yeah, the Special Offers are really are incredible! But the good news is that you are on the bandwagon now and will be able to continue to add to 'your collection' with all the upcoming Special Offers! :D

BTW, nice acquitions last eve AdamMy.

Currently in my cup, some home-roasted blend that our Mod put in my lunchbag for work.

I'm not really focused on any one type of teaware. I buy what catches my eye. Things tend to be on the more rustic/organic side of things.

In my cup: Fujian Baroque.

My focus is primarily on Japanese teaware. Although I do venture off the path. In fact I am so very excited to get a beautiful English tea cup I have been looking for some time. Yay!

Today's cup Balasun Estate from Mariage Freres.

Lately we have been focused on teacups and some pieces from some local artist. We have scoured antique shops and have found some very interesting Japanese tea cups.

Today's cup has been filled with Green!

I wish I could say I was focused on teaware. It's an area of tea I am unfortunately deficient in.

Today I focussed on three teas.
Morning: Adagio's Valentines tea.
Lunch: Handmade First Flush tea from Glenworth Tea Estate in Chennai, India.
Afternoon: Adagio's Grapefruit Oolong.

Matcha this morning, of course.
Silver needle with me in SS thermal cup for trip into SF and back.
Now I think I'll have some Ku Ding.
Cheers.
Best to you all.

Beautiful canister Olivier!!

In my cup this afternoon the last of my Seven Cups AliShan. Did I really pay $15.10 for 25g as marked on the package? Wow, I should have finished this off sooner!

Yes Olivier - wonderful canister!
I have a cherry bark one that is metal on the inside.
I just saw some cherry bark that were wood inside, and wow, did they have a strong shellac odor. I have avoided many of these due to that.
What do you think?
Also, thought I'd share images of ku ding cha (a chinese tisane - medicinal - works fabulously for warding off a bug when you're just coming down with it :) ).

Here is a pretty good article on Wiki about Ku Ding, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ku_Ding_tea

Cheers.
ps - I snuck in an ice split full of Jasmine White Peony and a chocolate chip cookie before the ku ding.
