Friday TeaDay 12/11/09 Tea Versus Teaware battle for bucks?

by Chip » Dec 11th, '09, 00:32

Greetings everyone and welcome to TeaDay. Please stop by often and share what is in your cup throughout the day.

Yesterday we discussed TeaGifting. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.

Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. How much do you spend on TEA versus TEAWARE. I am looking for a ratio, not necessarily a $$$ amount, but if you feel so inclined.

I am looking forward to sharing TeaDay with everyone. Bottoms up ...

90:10
Once I got some good wares I spend most of my money on actual tea. That 10 percent is just in case something catches my eye or if something breaks.

seeker,

You know what they tell you in rehab....... you have to stop hanging out with the people who act as enablers. What are you doing here?

best,

..................john

PS: Most of the time for me it is tea on top. Of course a single good teaware purchase would buy a LOT of tea. So it ie REALLY hard to figure this one out over the long haul. Rarely is it teaware that I purchase........ but I am in a really unique and fortunate situation in that I often am honored to be gifted such work or sometimes I trade my work for it.

Vast majority is tea, though I plan to make some teaware purchases soon. Although I don't plan to spend all that much.

Hummm I'll to have to think about that. My percentages are way above what is considered normal, I'm sure. I keep waiting to settle in and stop buying but it's not happening. There is always something new and exciting in both tea and teaware.

Ligri Pookrie STGFOP 1 CL an Assam from the Lochan tasting in my Little Pig cup this morning.

Have a nice day everyone!

I used to definitely spend the majority of my tea $$ on the tea itself. I remember vaguely the days when I snickered at the teaware addicts as I drank my tea from my favorite Tigger coffee mug. Oh, how the mighty have fallen.

In light of my recent Hagi splurging, I really have to go with about 50/50 for this past year... but I do not expect that trend to continue. My New Years Resolution is going to have to include some teaware restraint... I think :?: :!: :?:

Getting ready to brew up one of the Lochan tasting samples... Glenburn Green Delight. I am sure to enjoy it. :)

As a side note... sorry I have been so absent here lately. I have some family illnesses going on... plus work... plus the holidays... plus, I have been cramming for a big certification exam. I took the exam Monday, and according to my preliminary computer-generated results, I passed! For those who already knew I was a Certified Nurse-Midwife, now I am also a Women's Health Care Nurse Practitioner - Board Certified. Woohoo! Gotta love a few new initials.

WOW! Those extra initials should equal to more $$$ which means more tea and teaware for you. Congrats! What a grand accomplishment indeed. :D

Sarah, Congratulations on the new title! :D

I voted 80/20. Right now I would rather explore new and different teas than teaware.

Keemun Rhapsody in my cup this morning.

For me, it's about the tea, once in a while I will assimilate a new teacup into the collective, other than that, I'd rather have some leaf.

Congratulations Sarah. I hope your family is on the path of recovery.

I guess this has been the year of Hagi and other teaware. While tea purchases have long stabilized after 10 years of drinking tea, this was a catch up year for teaware, long overdue I suppose. Plus many opportunities presented themselves, including the connections for Special Offers and the creation of TeawareArtisans.

So, it was an anomoly year. 30:70 I would have to say. 8)

Began the TD with Yutaka Midori from O-Cha. SweeTea never misses an opp to have YM while Gandalf and Pyrit were oblivious.

80:20 for me. Mostly 'cause I needed to buy a new water kettle...and I'm looking for one more Yixing pot in the 100ml range.

Xiaguan Tibetan brick tea today. Warms me up on a cold day. Brrr!
