Greetings TeaFriends and welcome to TeaDay. I hope you will come in and share what is in your cup throughout the day.
Yesterday we discussed tea versus teaware purchase ratios. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.
Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. Tea wise, are you willing to try just about any tea ... even if it is only once? Is this a mantra for you? Please share.
I will be looking forward to sharing this TD with everyone, bottoms up.

Re: Saturday TeaDay 12/12/09 Tea Tasting Mantra?
Yep, absolutely my mantra. I'll try any tea, once, most probably more than once.

Re: Saturday TeaDay 12/12/09 Tea Tasting Mantra?
I'll try any new tea a few times. 90% of teas I end up liking (thought not necessarily enough to ever purchase any more).
Re: Saturday TeaDay 12/12/09 Tea Tasting Mantra?
Yep Yep, I'll try anything at least once. And, in fact, my mantra goes a step further...
Try everything; and for those you don't like, put them away and try again later. Teas mellow, taste buds change. You never know.
Drinking a 2nd Flush Darjeeling sample gifted to me from a fellow TeaChatter... I forget the estate. It's pretty mild and mellow for a 2nd flush... but tasty.

Yes it is my mantra, I will try any tea and try as many new teas a year as I can.
The biggest thing with trying new teas for me is cost though, I don't hardly try any new black teas just because I don't usually like black as much as oolong or green even white.
No tea yet

I will definitely try anything tea-related at least once. I think my currently problems is trying things only once. . . I've got so many different teas from wanting to try new stuff, that I usually only have time to taste once and move on. Hrm... I need to get drinking!
I'm finishing up this morning with some small-leaf pu'erh from Zhai Zhi Po, and then I will move on to something else. . . probably pu'erh related, not sure yet. The day is full of possibilities!

I'll try pretty much any tea at least once. However some teas only get a couple of sips before I toss them. Chamomile, I'm looking at you.

Re: Saturday TeaDay 12/12/09 Tea Tasting Mantra?
I wanted to choose number one but for some reason I felt it might be potentially dangerous
So I chose number 2.
So far there hasn't been a tea that I won't want to try. But there are a few teas that I won't want to try again, or at least need some recovery time before the next try.
I held an organic, fair trade chocolate activity last week. To my surprise, quite some kids (teenage or early 20s) wouldn't even want to try high quality dark chocolates, and didn't like some non-dark chocolate that are not as sweet as the chocolates more familiar to them
(but then of course more chocolates for me and other "older" people
) If chocolates are hard to accept by some people, I guess tea is even harder to be accept by more general public. I hope more and more kids would believe their beverage doesn't have to have sugar to taste good and doesn't have to be ice cold. Then tea is an option

I would have tried anything up to several years ago ... now after 10 years of trying everything, I am a bit more selective, but would still try many many teas, and in fact do on a regular basis. But within a smaller range now ...
Began the TD with Yutaka Midori from O-Cha. SweeTea predictably was close by for this tasting while Gandalf, Pyrit, Wulong, and TEAh were just enjoying the company.

Yes, I am completely willing to try any tea at least once. How else am I going to learn about tea?
Today, it's back to the rich China black teas for me: a Yunnan "Royal Golden" from Cha Ma Gu Dao. Delicious! And taste pops in every direction drinking from my new cup

PS I think what Sarah says above makes a lot of sense to me!kymidwife wrote: Try everything; and for those you don't like, put them away and try again later. Teas mellow, taste buds change. You never know.

I am willing to try just about anything, with the exception of the Yak Butter Tea that everyone says is so repulsive. But I'm not planning any trips to Tibet anytime soon, so I don't think I need to worry about that one!
Yesterday I got a new supply of tea from an eBay seller who had my fave "regular" Nilgiri Glendale. I was so excited that I drank two big cups of it at 7:00 and at 9:30. Needless to say, it was a sleepless night. But so worth it to enjoy the Glendale again!
This morning I'm trying some Keemun Panda #1 from the same seller. Tasty!

Which ebay seller?
Re: Saturday TeaDay 12/12/09 Tea Tasting Mantra?
While I do favor certain kinds of tea, like everyone, I think it would be a very sad thing to not even bother trying other teas.
There is ALWAYS something new to learn or experience.
And you might just find a new go-to

I've had the one from yunnanSourcing thats aged 9 years and its really nothing like what you would expect. I thought it tasted just like a shu pu erh with a bit more smooth taste.
Speaking of new teas Im having a new one today from enjoyingtea.com. Its the Anxi Benshan oolong and is my first Benshan. My first thought was its smell reminded me a bit of a wuyi with some other sharp smell that I wasn't particularly my favorate smell. I like the taste though and I suppose I will get used to the smell so I will definatly drink more of it.
