Do you grow Ti Kuan Yin for your own personal use in northern California? Or do you grow it commercially in some other area? I am very curious to hear about people growing tea in places that tea is not normally grown...

Hmmmight be a little insight in how spammers intrude and how they are dealt with.

1. Mingshan, who owns a business under the same name, registers and promptly violates numerous forum rules including self promoting posts and links.

2. Mingshan's posts are edited by your mild mannered mod, a PM is sent instructing Mingshan to read the forum rules and what rules he violated.

3. Mingshan writes back (an unusual event from a spammer, so I held out hope despite my past experiences) and basically promises to not repeat past transgressions. Mingshan is given the benefit of the doubt and given another chance however an official forum Warning is issued.

4. I continue to watch his posts and also any posts containing a reference to Mingshan.

5. A few days later, a member's account that has not been used in a few years, Ti Kuan Yin, is hijacked by none other than Mingshan and uses this member's account to post an obvious false testimonial for Mingshan's products as well as a link. Upon checking IPs, both Mingshan's and the other member's IP for most recent posts are a spot on match.

6. The evidence is conclusive. Mingshan is immediately banned from TeaChat. I also temporarily banned Ti Kuan Yin until the account can be cleared.

7. Mingshan has in the process wasted over an hour of my time, and inconvenienced numerous unsuspecting members.

I should have just banned him right away and saved a lot of time and aggravation. I am too nice sometimes ... but you knew that already.

Yeah, I always have hope too that they really do want to talk with us.
But it never happens.

On the original post, they say that they grow Ti Kuan Yin. I was under the impression that TKY was a style of processing rather than a variety of tea plant. Is that right?

Dangit, one of my first posts on TeaChat was welcoming a spammer. Not a great start...
