any advice on where to look for a bone china set?

by SanadaKojiroh » Dec 22nd, '09, 16:09

I've been in the market for a tea set since I broke my glass teapot. :(
Any suggestions where I can browse some selections?
Want it to be from a reputable dealer in case I receive a broken one.

Specifically looking for a thin/medium bone china or porcelain set...

The closest I've found to what I'm looking for is the Golden Blossom set from Teavana. (http://www.teavana.com/Tea-Products/Tea ... ea-Set.axd)
The problem is with that one is the giant teapot.

Stash also had some porcelain tea sets, but with the old fashioned ugly mug type cups; not to mention the horrible prints on the set.

- *must* have those thin cups with the wide mouths
- relatively small teapot
- (hopefully) delicate/gentle design, no ugly giant flower prints

Thanks in advance!
If I can't find any good ones, I might go with the teavana set.

I think Teavana has some very nice wares.
I usually shop eBay or Ruby Lane and look for reputable sellers.

But here's more:

If you are more into contemporary and minimalistic looking stuff, try Upton Tea Imports. I recently bought a bone china teapot and a cup for my Darjeelings from them which I absolutely love.

Teapots come in 2 sizes: 2 cup and 4 cup with different color accents. And the best part is both cups and teapots are on sale right now 8)

Thanks for the suggestions!
They seem to have a lot more choices than the tea purveyors' sites...

I like the white ones, but I just decided that I have too much boring stuff - want a little more flair this time :)

Also found this site which has a better mix of modern and traditional designs... http://www.englishteastore.com/

Still looking, not sure what I'm leaning towards... :?
Might pick the Grand Prussian from Teavana or the Poinsettia from the link above.

The real question is how much do you want to spend. Of the two you have picked out, so far, the Teavana one is much made of better quality porcelain.

Just got these from The Tea Gallery. A Taiwan Made, high quality Bone-China. Love how they followed a classic Yixing Shuiping shape

Oh my  did they pick this up on their recent journeys? Man, I can't wait for my trip to NYC so I can drool at all their tea stuff.

I like this one. And it's a pretty good price considering it's a complete set.

I suppose you picked that set up in-store? I don't see it on the website. :D

I have not measure it yet. Around 120-150ml? Same as a 4 cups Yixing.

I saw it, and another one on their website. It's not categorized for some reason yet but if you go to product category you can find it. It's quite tempting, albeit a bit large for my personal taste though.
