Aged Wuyi tasted like wine?
Anyone ever tasted an aged oolong with wine notes? Almost like the smell of a freshly opened red wine cork?

I think it all depends on what is in one's background. Many tea drinkers never drink European wines and couldn't possibly have those associations. I am often impressed how well some people seem to describe the flavor and aromas of teas and wine.TIM wrote:Anyone ever tasted an aged oolong with wine notes? I would be happy to age some if it ends up with sweet aroma like red wine cork
.
Are you sure there's no contamination in the storage? I doubt it comes from aging the tea itself. Maybe there's secondary fermentation takes place in the storage.

I can't remember what it was, exactly, but I had some tea recently that made me strongly think of wine, although I couldn't quite pin down why (there were some "grapey" aspects to it, but not to the extent of the strong impression I was getting - maybe it was just that the aged "plum" flavor was richer than most). I think it might have actually been a sample of a rather aged yancha that someone sent me indeed
