Tuesday TeaDay 12/29/09 New Year's Resolutions?

by Chip » Dec 29th, '09, 01:40

Greetings everyone. Please do drop in and share what is in your cup throughout the day.

Yesterday we discussed dribs and drabs, what to do with them. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.

Today's TeaRoom Poll and discussion topic is a little off the tea topic. As the New Year approaches, I was wondering if you have considered New Year's Resolutions for 2010? Please share if you dare.

I am looking forward to sharing this TeaDay with everyone. Bottoms up.

Several for me, which include less buying. I need to scale back teaware and tea purchases. I have a lot of tea on hand. I don't plan on buying any new tea except for the 2010 spring harvest oolongs.

Mainly to stop eating out so much... oh and to go to the grocery store more than once every 2-4 weeks so I don't have to eat out so much :)

The amount of tea I keep getting and the amount I drink aren't equal, so rather than buying less, I plan on drinking way more.

To keep things realistic I have decided on about four that would not be impossible with some effort.

1. Keep in better touch with family and friends. I am terrible at this and need to work on this no matter how busy I get.
2. Get healthier. If I lose weight in the process great but that is not my specific goal. I just want to start making some healthier choices. Tea counts...Yah! However, I have been doing that for years need to try something new. Baby steps.
3. Relax, take it easy, go with the flow more. I know this one sounds strange but I have a tendancy to be hard on myself and a little controlling at times and I think it causes me to be be a perfectionist. Which in turn causes issues with the people I love most in my life. Of course I will still try to be my best at whatever I do but instead of getting so wrapped up in the little things I will let things go. Especially in those situations where I have no control. You all know what I mean.
4. Take Care of Myself too..."I am NOT Super Mom...I am NOT Super Wife" not matter how much I try. I should not feel guilty about spending time on me. If I don't take care of myself how can I be expected to take care of anyone else.

Well, that is a lot off my chest. Happy New Years to everyone.

Just one. More matcha, less coffee. I know I've said it repeatedly, but I love coffee as much (more? ) than I love tea. However, coffee is not good for my health, and I've been drinking a lot of coffee again lately, and feeling like crud. So... way less coffee. More Matcha.

Oh yeah, my mini-goal is to get these carpets shampooed. blech. Two cats + two dogs = constantly dirty carpets. I need hardwood floors badly.

I have several resolutions:

1) Live what I believe
2) Put my heart in God's hands and start to heal from the past
3) Be a better daughter, sister, and Aunt
4) Read 12 books (1 per month)
5) Be tobacco free for the whole year (and hopefully forever)

Victoria, thanks for the tip on the wonderful Red Peach tea. It was brisk and very satisfying. :)

Also, my ingenuiTea works great for me; I have trouble handling a kettle now and the ingenuiTea (16 oz.) just works great. No fear of gas flames igniting my oxygen cannula!

Good luck and welcome to TeaDay! I regretably smoked when I was young, each pack was "my last" and would never ever buy a carton, for to do so was to say I gave up on quitting. But it is now many years since I 100% quit. So an extra good luck on quitting.

I have never been huge on New Years resolutions, if it is worth doing, it is worth doing now. But I guess I have some personal/career goals that require action. 8)

Began the TD with almost the end of Hatsumi from O-Cha. Still some of those dribs and drabs that I will have to blend with something. SweeTea joined in while Lil Bit just stopped by.

Next up, a tasting of Zencha Fuga LE.

Just had two bowls of my first Matcha experience. Not bad but its one of those things I need to taste several others to start discerning unique tastes and also just get a base line for what its like.
