Hello,
I am trying to learn about tea-ware so a friend of mine who lived in Taiwan for many years loaned me this tea set to play with. I have never seen a teapot with a teapot lid before!
I'm hoping that I can learn more about tea ware by posting these pictures and hearing from some more experienced tea experts.
Thanks!

He's doomed himself, there is no way any sane tea sipper would ever give that back..

I've seen something like this before, in a reference book for antique pots. It didn't look exactly like this, but it was very similar. You have water in bottom compartment, which keeps the upper compartment warm or something. I'll scan photos of it when I get home.

Thats awsome Ironica! I've never seen anything like that but if you drop the lid then you have broken a whole teapot

I don't have a very good camera but will work on getting a clearer shot.

That teapot is certainly...interesting. I'd probably buy it for the novelty factor alone, even if the lid doesn't do anything (beyond the obvious)!
