Sunday TeaDay 1/17/10 scorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrre ... ?

by Chip » Jan 17th, '10, 02:26

Good TeaDay everyone. Please drop in throughout the day and share what is in your cup.

Yesterday we discussed TeaVendor, whether it should be public or private or somewhere in between. Your input and response is still needed.

Today's TeaPoll and discusssion topic. Bear with me on this one ... might be a bit of a stretch for some TCers, but just try and have fun with it.

My all time fave team, the Colts, won last night, and the playoffs are heating up.

SOOOOO, are each of your teas today a touchdown (7 points, GREAT), a fieldgoal (3 points VERY GOOD), a first down (pretty good), a punt (not so good), a quarterback sack (pretty bad), an incomplete pass (not the best brewing), a fumble/interception (a really bad brewing). Or maybe you will come up with something else ... and have fun on TeaDay today!

I am looking forward to sharing this TeaDay with everyone. Bottoms up.

!!Touchdown!! I am going to say touchdown and I should walk away with 21 points, if it goes to overtime, 28.

Started the morning with Saphir Himalayan always a perfect cup. Light and bright with a nice little bit of astringency.

Have a nice day everyone!

Well, the Saints won yesterday as well, so I think I'll have some Shi Feng Long Jing from Seven Cups to celebrate! Touchdown! :)

Wakamatsu no mukashi matcha as koicha this afternoon: easy touchdown with a 2-point conversion.

The Colts weren't very impressive yesterday by the way.

Scored a touchdown with a tasting of Fuushun by O-Cha. This is not my fave organic, but it is quite good. I nailed the brewing, so no fumbles or interceptions! Shared the Fuushun with SweeTea who meowed "scorrrrrre" while Gandalf put his arms up indicating a TD and Lil Bit spiked the Hagi Shiro Wan.

Not sure if I will score more TDs (touchdowns) today as the rest of the TD (TeaDay) will be a road show.

2009 Taiwan Wuyi from Floating Leaves. A first down or field goal; very nice everyday tea but not one of my absolute favorites.

I would say it was a first down. Pretty good, that is, but not great. 'twas a sencha that I have been keeping in the back of the cupboard for some time, and I was semi-worried that it would be just a little bit stale. It wasn't.

Hmmm.....started with a gyokuro, which was a first down, primarily because this tea has suffered temperature abuse and been opened too long, so the sweetness was not where it should have been; but I have gotten more consistent in the brewing conditions and though it lacked sweetness, everything else was just right.

Then fieldgoal with my own herbal tea blend, hibiscus/chamomile/orange peel/mint/licorice/tulsi. Not a touchdown I think because a bit too much chamomile.

Now expecting a touchdown with some Huo Shan Huang Ya yellow tea from Jing Tea, because a couple of days ago I scored a touchdown followed by....my footballese is failing me here......and interception and another touchdown. Got about a dozen infusions from it before it started to fade.

I had a definite touchdown with some pu-erh this morning before a long day of travelling, and am expecting another touchdown with some jasmine green tea "pearls" that I got in Chinatown. Yum! :)

Welcome to TeaChat Skippyandjif!

Scored a touchdown on the road with a tasting of Ooigawa Organic Fukamushi from O-Cha with DW. Really a nice organic fukamushi!

Currently a field goal with home roasted mugi/genmai.

Took me forever to get possession of the ball today... but scored a field goal late in the quarter. Woulda been a TD, but this first-flush Darjeeling has lost some of its luster, been open too long I think. It's still good, but not as WOW as it was. Glad I discovered it in my re-organizing of my tea stuff.

By the way, I am a UK Wildcats basketball kind of girl, so I am hoping for some March Madness tea polls coming up soon. ;) GO BIG BLUE, undefeated at 18-0!!!

Happy Tea Day,

Sarah

I had to ponder for a bit today. No tea this morning, so I waited to post until now. Got a new Wuyi Oolong, and I'd have to vote first down. Probably needs a better brewing time/temp.. since it's new, I'm still experimenting. But was definitely palatable, maybe just a minute shorter next time.

Also, sad news. I had put the filter for my IngenuiTEA in the dishwasher the other day, and my boyfriend had emptied the dishwasher, so when I couldn't find it, I merely thought it was because he'd put it somewhere that I hadn't thought to look. Asked him about it this afternoon, and we discovered that it had dropped to the bottom and had been sitting right on the heating coil in the bottom of the dishwasher. It's totally melted. Ick. On the plus side, gives me an excuse to buy some tea, since I now need to order a replacement filter, but I need my next paycheck to come in first, so I might just need to make do with another infuser for a couple weeks.

I didn't have any tea on Sunday. I was spending time with my family all day at the hospital and at my parents house. My grandmother passed away. :(
