My number one peave is having tea go stale because I was nursing it. This has only happened to me with dancong and it's happened several times. I hate wasting good tea

I hate breaking teaware too but the only teawares that I've broken have been eggshell gaiwan.

My last tea of the day was O-Cha's Yame gyokuro served in a new Kashun yunomi.

I have to add a TP - when I get distracted heating my water, and overheat it, then have to wait for it to cool (or take measures to cool it - yuzamashi, add cooler water if there's room, etc). This happens a lot, and I have absolutely NO interest in using one of those zojirushi units that dispenses water from a bin made of aluminum and coated with nonstick chemicals - talk about toxins (or the Breville multi temp kettle that comes with a prop 65 warning packed in the box, sheesh)! So, I'll stick with my stainless steel cordless electric kettle, and work on patience with my distractibility.

Sipping some Ancient Moonlight White from Rishi, 3rd infusion. Gonna move on to jasmine white peony next. :)

Sipping that Jasmine White Peony now, and playing with my avatar. Changed it. Gonna see, but might change it again.
Changed it again. Think I'll keep this one. :)

I chose 'overbrewing because of getting distracted', but my main peeve is actually finding a great tea I had forgotten I had in the back of the cupboard, brewing it with high expectations, and then finding that it has gone stale.

Seeker's post inspired me, so I'm having Ancient Moonlight too. Thanks, Seeker!

I was thinking of Ancient Moonlight when I nominated Rishi for White Teas on the TeaVendor guide. It is an outstanding tea.

All the choices are somewhat peeves, but the main one is having a high end tea, that I was "saving" loose it's oomph. Then it's like ... I paid how much??? ... for this?? I voted for #2, #3 & #4, these cause the worst heartache.

I had to go with distractions leading to oversteeping, but fortunately, this doesn't happen too frequently. I'm much more likely to forget about the water and then it's cooled too much and I have to reheat it, thus delaying my tea enjoyment.

I also had to vote for "A tea that you know is "good," but you just cannot brew correctly." Recent example: I got a tin of Darjeeling for Christmas, and for days, I didn't know if I was just preparing it wrong, or if I just didn't like it. I've finally found a method that works, lowered the temp and drink from a gaiwan (the changing flavor as it goes along is wonderful), but it was very frustrating thinking that I have all this "great" Darjeeling that is undrinkable.

Speaking of, I made some last night while friends were over - my roomate had some Wuyi oolong, and one of my good friends tried our white earl.

Lady Grey again today. 2 bags left. Time to order tea this weekend!

Which Kashun Yunomi???

Yeah, saving the best teas then having it go stale! I used to do this much more, guess I finally learned my lesson. I used to try and save the best teas for last, just doesn't really work that way!

Reordering an excellent tea, and then the reorder is really just not the same tea, period!!! This could be number1, but it happens so rarely with Japanese tea. It used to happen a lot with domestic vendors.

And the tea I could not brew correctly, a tea I was certain was very good, but I just could not uncover the riddle of the brewing. I usually finally figure it out and that is rewarding.

Currently a tasting of Yame Fukamushi from Den's. It has not gone stale, will be the same and good on a reorder, and pretty easy to brew ... so no peeves with this tea. SweeTea found it engaging ...

I'm also giving her a set of Blue Flow tea bowls for her birthday.

I voted for #3, 6, & 7.

Having great hopes on a reorder of a tea that I absolutely loved and not getting an equivalent replacement makes me sad.

Not being able to get the brewing right on a "good" tea is frustrating.

And having dirty teaware is a annoyance. Along with this I consider "forgetting to fill the Zoji and set the timer" as another TeaPeeve.

Keemun Panda this morning at home. I'm not sure what my work tea will be, but maybe an Oolong. Happy Friday!

times when something comes up that forces me away from the brew, only to return to cold leaves & vessel and some severely inferior resulting brews.
