Happy 2nd Birthday To TeaDay!!!
... and many morrrrre ...
Welcome everyone to the 731st TeaDay, a TeaBirthday Partay, I hope you will join us in celebrating by sharing what is in your cup this day, raising a cuppa to TD and of course TC and our awesome host Adagio ... and last but not least ... our fellow members!
I hope your presence and participation will make this celebration extra special.
Speaking of birthdays and celebrations. TeaChat will turn 5 (years) soon. The tentative official celebration date is 6/7/10, which is when TC actually went live although there were some earlier "chat room" postings. Look for some celebration details when they are finalized.
Much was shared and discussed and I truly believe LEARNED this past year on TeaDay. We can all agree that this upcoming year can and will be filled with much much more ... just by discussing tea. I like to think we are TeaAmbassadors of the internet.
Yesterday we discussed the last time we did not have tea all day long. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.
Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic (in addition to the TeaPartay). In the past year, how far away from home have you ordered TEA, the farthest away? Please share some details and how you felt about the overall transaction(s).
I am looking forward to sharing this TeaDay birthday with everyone. Bottoms up!

Happy birthday TeaDay and congrats to everyone here.
As far as the question of the day and if my googling skillz are correct about ~8500 miles. From Ga to Yunnan.
Drinking some cold brewed oolong #8 from adagio.

Have recently been loving several teas ordered from Jing Tea, which traveled from Singapore to Los Angeles, about half a planet away.....so far, have loved Bi Lo Chun (green) and Huo Shan Huang Ya (yellow). Have small quantities of several more yet to open & try.
Service was excellent (they caught a problem with the delivery long before I would have) and I will order from them again.

Definitely half a planet.
(celebrated passing my final licensure exam tonight with a bit of dinner at an amazing Berkeley restaurant called Chez Panisse. A couple of tisanes in the cups at end of meal - fresh mint in one pot (amazing - fresh, live mint - large, clear glass pot - had a subtle mint flavor with hints of cinammon - and it was just plain, organic, live mint, stems and leaves intact - amazing).
The other pot - elderflower, infused in a medium tetsubin; kind of like a combination of chamomile and raspberry leaf. Two wonderful tisanes. Beautiful way to end a wonderful meal and celebration.
Cheers and much, much gratitude to you all.

I can't be bothered to check how many miles away Japan is, and "half a planet away" sounds so temptingly dramatic. I chose that, because it makes me feel almost like an explorer. Almost.
Exploring some oolong today, I forget the name. It's good. I'm very happy with my routine of enjoying the 'longs semi-rarely, because then I'm always happily surprised by the aroma and the taste.
And happy Day of Birth, TeaDay!

Unfortunately, as I'm still fairly new to internet-ordered tea (most of it has been in person) I've only ordered online from Adagio, which is about a 13 hour drive from where I live (I didn't google it, I spent 6 weeks in Jersey last spring/summer, and drove to get there. Painfully long drive, fyi. Was really glad that my boyfriend's a massage therapist - my neck and shoulders were killing me when I got home).
Back to Earl Grey this morning. Another boring day at work, punctuated with semi-frequent checking of TC to keep me from chucking papers all around the office (it's really tempting sometimes). I'm not exactly a desk-work person. Ah well, it pays the bills. And buys me tea!

I flew to Taiwan to get some tea, a nice 18 hour flight, one-way.
But maybe that doesn't count because Taiwan is also considered home..

About 9 months ago I went to Tokyo for a couple of weeks and I scoured every area I went for tea houses. The one that sticks out in my mind was a very pretty place in roppongi where I had some incredibly tasty gyokuro. Hopefully I'll be able to do the same in Kyoto sometime when I can afford it, fingers crossed.
Started the day off with some powerful but very tasty gunpowder and I'm currently having my first taste of a Menghai 08 Qing Tuo which seems to be alright although not up there with my favourites.

Many Happy Returns of the Day, Tea Day!
San Rafael, California is 2502 miles from Maryville, Tennessee (according to MapQuest) -- so I chose over 2500 and under 5000 miles!!!

Silk Road Teas was the vendor.
I would not hesitate to order from half a planet away, though.

Due to my health, I order
everything on line. My sweet husband picks up groceries and tiny items for me locally.
Golden Monkey this morning; will try another new sample this afternoon -- don't know what yet, though.

Happy Birthday TeaDay!
I guess India would be the farthest away for me, although I have purchased Chinese teas from American vendors.
Formosa Choicest Oolong from TeaSource in my work cup today.
