Is it possible to heat this kettle on a stove, or an elecrtric heater element made of copper like the one`s Kamjove produces, or will that intense heat crack it?.

Weird - I thought I checked their site a while back. Good catch! Have you confirmed that it's the same item? They do sell a lot of Yama stuff, but can't tell from the picture if it's the exact same model.

Even on Taiwanese auction sites, this exact model isn't easy to find (though similar ones are not very expensive).

I was told it's the Yama Glass YG-T17 .
Also , listed under the product title " Chinese Tea Ceremony Glass Water Kettle" is [T17] .
In product description is stated " It is stove top safe (medium high heat) and dishwasher safe. "

 zencha, you are my HERO! A friend and I have searched high and low on the internet for this darn kettle for months and came up empty. You rock.

The store is out of stock already, but should get more in by mid March. My order is already in.

For others out there- FWIW, I already own this same kettle, but I paid significantly more for it. It's a phenomenal kettle, and this price is a deal and a half.

I have safely used it on a gas stove .
According to the Use & Care instructions on the box :
Your glass cookware may be used on either electric or gas cooking ranges .
When using a gas range , low flame should be used .

I use mine on a super high-output gas burner with no problems. Otherwise, it takes forever to boil.

I have yama glass pot too. My model is designed by taiwan eilong studio. I use it on the electric stove. It works just fine. At the eilong site they say: "Our glass swell factor is 32, and in compliance with Japan's standards and can resist up to 500°C. Our company will always conform to the highest standards." So if it can survive 500°C I think there is nothing to worry about.

In what way is it better than other glass kettles? Just that it can be used on gas range or something else?

There's not that many glass kettles out there, but mostly it's good because it's high quality, doesn't have any weird illustrations on the side or a cheap-feeling handle, large size, and the pour and balance are perfect.
