So I have a pot dedicated to light oolongs, a red yixing by this I mean I mainly brew bao zhong(pouchong), dong ding(tung ting) and very light jade tiguanyin. So my question is this do any of you oolong lovers think that it would be a good or bad Idea to brew a bai hao in the same pot?
I am looking at it like this
1. this are all fruity/floral teas with green notes and bai hao is certainly floral/fruity just not much of a green note
2. Bai hao is heavily oxidized tea in compared to those listed above, what impressions will this have on steeping the very lightly oxidized tea? I don't want to add any roasted notes to this pot but I don't think that will be a problem.
Thanks in advance to anyone willing to take the time to weigh in on this matter.
Drink up and live up!!!!

Re: yixing pot and oolong pairing question???
Of course you "can" but I wouldn't recommend it. Check out this thread:

Re: yixing pot and oolong pairing question???
I'm a big fan of experimentation, especially when the risk of permanent damage is low. I recommend trying the pot with the bai hao and then go back and check if you notice any new off-flavors coming out when you use it to brew light oolongs. Great way to learn more about your teaware.
This perspective is based on the idea that any "damage" done to the pot, should you not like the bai hao's effect on the light oolongs, will dissipate after returning it to dedicated regular light oolong use.
Of course, any excuse it get a new pot is a good excuse...

Re: yixing pot and oolong pairing question???
personally, I don't think it's an issue of supposed mixing of flavors if you're brewing Bai Hao in a light oolong pot. Experimentation of a few times won't kill a pot, and the differences between Bai Hao and light oolongs is not that great that it would mess up the pot.
I think you get better results from Bai Hao when it's brewed in a porcelain vessel, such as a gaiwan.
