by Chip » Feb 21st, '10, 01:46

Good Morning TeaChatters, welcome to TeaDay. Please stop by often and share what is in your cup today.

Yesterday we discussed whether we began the day with the same type or even the same tea. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic

Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic takes you to the end of the TeaDay. Do you typically end your TeaDay by having the same type of tea, or exact same tea, or something different most times? Please share your end of TeaDay habit, or lack thereof.

I am looking forward to sharing TeaDay with everyone today, bottoms up!

Usually the same general type of tea - Oolong. But different ones. I placed 3 different tea orders today, really wanting some fresh TGY. I was doing well at using up my old stuff till now. Probably bought a bit too much overall, but also bought blacks which will keep. I ordered from Silk Road Teas, Camellia Sinensis and Imperial Teas, UK. And an order from Royal Puer is on the way.

I have a big tea collection, so I usually end my day with a different general type of tea than that with which I began, although I will occasionally begin and end my day with two types of green tea, because I have many different types of that, or two types of herbal tea (the latter generally happens when I'm not feeling well).

Generally, I start my day with either an oolong-green tea blend, or some strong pu-erh or Assam; I end with something less caffeinated like green, white, or herbal tea because I drink tea right before bed. (Caffeine doesn't usually affect me, but I'm not taking any chances... :) )

I just pick out whatever sounds good at the moment. My last cup of tea last night was Candy Apple but there was no reason to it other than that is what I felt like.
Pumpkin Spice this morning :D

If I drink tea towards the end of the day, I've been drinking Blood Orange Rooibos from the New Mexico Tea Company mostly because my aunt and uncle gave me an 8oz bag of it for Christmas. It puts me to sleep, which is nice. Otherwise, it is up in the air as to if I even have tea at night, after dinner.

I am starting my day today with a pot of Den's Sakura Sencha. This year's batch is awesome!

The day lately is starting with sencha, and on work days, at least, the middle of the day tea is usually something that keeps well in the big thermos--oolongs, puerhs, sometimes a green. If I have time and energy for a nitecap, it could be anything, depending on my mood and what I had middle of the day.

Yesterday started sencha, moved on to a light pouchong, then there was a tasting of sample of white tea, and ended with a dan cong oolong gong fu.

Starting the TeaDay with Lychee Red Tea From Jing Tea Shop. It was a sample, not something I will probably buy, but a nice change in the AM.

If I have tea after supper, it is usually a different general type of tea than what I have earlier in the day.

Ended up not feeling well on Saturday, and didn't even feel like making myself any tea! Don't know what I'll have today.

I think that poll option needs to change a little, but I'm going w/ no rhyme or reason.

Life has had very little rhyme or reason lately. My schedule's all in an uproar, and I will likely be absent for the foreseeable future. I get very little time to board-check nowadays. Ah well.

But Sunday is still sacred, and I am enjoying a cup of tea -- an aged brick of pu'erh... oh how I've missed it. Mmmmmm.

And it's an absolutely gorgeous day here today. After my cold and rainy days, it's so nice to have a day of sun and (a bit of) warmth!

:? :?: Okay, I'm a bit confused by the poll question.
Is this a reference to the tea I end the day with relative to the tea I end other days with or relative to the tea I started the day with?
Also, did you mean for the last item in the poll to read "first" tea (or should it read 'last' tea - shouldn't it read 'last'? :? )

I usually end my tea day with a white or a tisane. In the last year and a half caffeine in any amount has seemed to effect my sleep - thus my choices. (used to end the tea day routinely with puerh, still do occasionally, but more the exception now than the rule).
No tea yet today.

Thanks for pointing that out, copy and pasting still requires editing. I have fixed the reply to state "last". Also, I added the option to vote for 2 poll options.

Simply, how do you end your TD?

For instance, I typically end my TD with a low or no caffeine "tea" or tea. It varies from day to day, but is generally Japanese or at least Japanese influenced. Kukicha, Houjicha, Houji-Kukicha, Genmaicha, Mugi, Mugi/Genmai, And a plethora of related blends.

So, tbh, not sure how to truly answer the poll. I went with usually the same general type (a stretch) and usually a different tea.

BEGAN the TD with a tasting of a Shincha from 2009, a bit of an experiment to see the holding power of Fukamushi Shincha. This was a sealed bag, not nitro flushed but had a deox packet inside, and was held in cold storage til now. My impression of this fukamushi, it has faded a bit, but is still good. But it is not what it once was, lacking intensity of the Shincha of this same tea I had in the Spring when it was uber fresh.

I wonder if a nitro flushed bag would have held up better?

I was joined by SweeTea while Pyrit and Gandalf stopped by to say hello on a beautiful Sunday Morning.

No rhyme or reason... I like to keep the leisure parts of my life pretty unstructured, and as I am not very caffeine-sensitive at night, I am free to brew whatever strikes my fancy.

The poll header really sparked my curiosity today before I read Chip's entry. In my world of healthcare, "endo" is short for "endoscopy", so I was wondering how a scope stuck down your esophagus and into your stomach was going to play into a tea theme.

Drinking iced Lady Grey today, yummm. It's over 50F today, feels so Spring-like, which is a welcomed change from our recent snow and ice. I know its too early and it won't hold, but it has made for a very nice day.
