Hi all, something of a tea newbie, but I'm well-versed and stocked in enough tea to benefit from a TriniTEA, and thus I took the plunge and got it a few days ago. Right off the bat, it works great. I seem to be making some rather bitter batches of tea (at the moment, I've only made Earl Grey Moonlight with it), but I feel like I just need to tweak the amount of leaf I put in to get that fixed. No sweat. My actual dilemma comes from the steeping chamber itself. It came with a lid which in the practical sense appears to guide the heated water directly into the chamber containing the tea leaves to be steeped.
The trouble in my case seems to crop up when I make a full 4-cup batch. When the second phase begins, the water pouring into the second chamber seems to catch on the lid of the steeping chamber, and ends up spilling over the sides of the tea maker. I've observed this about six times in a row, and it seems that the only way to prevent this from happening is to keep the lid off when I'm making tea... Obvious fix, I know, but if that's the case, then what's the point of having this lid at all? Literally no pictures, reviews, or discussion of any kind about the TriniTEA mentions this mysterious lid, and I dunno, should I just set it aside and forget about it? I kinda feel like I know the answer to this question, but I'd love to hear from the community at large to give me peace of mind.
Re: Silly Question About the TriniTEA
Hmmm, that is interesting. I know that the lid for the triniTEA can go on top of the steeping chamber in two different ways- have you tried playing around with the lid to see if that's the issue? I would also advise making sure that the steeping chamber is completely inserted into the unit- that might be why the water is running over.
I can't think of any reason why your steeping chamber would be acting like that, unless it is misaligned when inserting because the lid is not correctly placed- this would probably be why the water is spilling over onto the lid.

Re: Silly Question About the TriniTEA
Indeed, I have. I've tried it both properly aligned (peg on the lid placed through corresponding hole on steeping pot) and misaligned. The only other theory that I can come up with is that the smaller inner chamber isn't draining water fast enough, causing it to overflow.xine wrote:...have you tried playing around with the lid to see if that's the issue? I have to go to class now, but I'll tinker around with it a little later.
