Greetings everyone and welcome to another grrrreat TeaDay! Please do drop into and share what is in your cup throughout the day today.
Yesterday we discussed where we enjoyed tea the most. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.
Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. I have refrained mentioning this little 7 letter word in the topics so far, I should get a star! SHINCHA, or new harvest! Whew, feels good getting that out finally!
So, has Shincha or new harvest entered your vocab as you ponder current tea aquisitions? Please share!
I am looking forward to sharing not so new tea with everyone today on TeaDay. Bottoms up.

Not really...first flush darjeeling is more on my mind.

The S-word is part of my vocabulary, but I've only ever used it in my mind, never in writing or in speech. So this is a first:
<drum roll>
Shincha.
Definitely going to get me some of that. Some Shincha sencha, methinks. At least to start with.

I'm getting ready, I have been refraining from buying more matcha and have been making a lot more gyokuro. Though this will be my first Shincha season. I was around last year but not into Japanese teas then.

A picture from last night but I'm having it again this morning.

Unfortunately for my taste buds, but fortunate for my wallet: Not yet. My tea collection has recently swelled again, and as I'd like to actually eat a couple times a day (and I'm sure my roomates do too), I don't think the tea collection will grow any more for at least a couple months. And as I'm still getting used to green tea, - Japanese in particular - I'm not comfortable enough with it to "stock up," as it were, on something for which I'm still in the testing phase. It'd be like launching a missile when you're still testing the guiding and detonation systems. It might do what you want, but very likely you'll end up killing your neighbor instead by hitting him with something akin to a very large anvil.
Darjeeling this morning, just about to get my 2nd infusion, then on to Shan Shui's Baozhong - I love trying new teas!! I really need to start writing down my thoughts so I remember what all I've tried though..

Well, we may be able to give him a 'star' on TC, but not here at home! He has our catz lookin' for another kitty addition named "SHINCHA"!Chip wrote:Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. Great sencha w/the Shincha King this morning in a gorgeous SansSei, yes, it has lots of green hues to show off the sencha. Lots of catz decided to check out the TeaTable while snow continues to fall.
Adam, gorgeous new acquisitions, loving your photo today. Thanks for sharing!
Re: Friday TeaDay 2/26/10 S*****A, has it entered your vocab?
I've thought about Shincha, though more in a "how am I ever going to finish off my current stash of Japanese greens before Shincha season?"
I am snowed in this morning. The city of Syracuse decided to just plow the main roads and hasn't touched the side streets as of 10:40 a.m. We were out at 6:30 a.m. trying to dig out both my car and fiance's car, only to have both cars be unable to get down the road. My car got almost to the end, but the scraper bank at the end of the street was impossible to drive over. It is rather frustrating because the sun is now shining, but there is still a good foot of snow on our street, even with the tire tracks from those who successfully made it out. Oh well....I guess I get to stay home and drink tea. Starting with the Organic Monk's Blend that I originally made to bring to work with me. The rest of the day looks to be filled with greens since I will have the time to brew many steeps and enjoy them.

Continuing the Tea day with Sencha, and I'm down to about 25 grams but I have roughly 200 g Gyokuro, so I will have to see if I can make it to Shincha!!!!
