Tuesday TeaDay 3/09/10 Why tea???

by Chip » Mar 9th, '10, 00:56

Yesterday, TeaChatters voted 2 to 1 in favor of Sushi/Sashimi.
You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.

Welcome one and all to another Saturday on TeaDay.
So filler up and share what's in your cup today...all day.
Be sure to check out what everyone else is sipping as well.
If you need to, you can also reflect back on your TeaDay.

Today, we are asked, why do we drink tea?
Is it love, is it health, caffeine, a combination?
What is most important, what is least important?

I am as always looking forward to seeing everyone on TeaDay.
So, bottoms up...refill...repeat numerous times.

Never have liked coffee of any kind; and have liked tea more the better my tea and tea brewing has become.

I gave up alcohol in 2003 for various reasons and turned to trying out different teas and coffee as an alternative to my other addiction. At the time, I didn't know you could be a "connoisseur" of tea like I was with wine, dark rums, beer, etc.

For me the main reason is because I like it.
But I'm glad that it is supposed to have health benefits. I think it also keeps me from eating more sweets or drinking more alcohol/soda. It also calms me down when I'm stressed out.

I love it, the possible health benefits are nice I suppose (but I don't really consider this much), and it's better than what I would be drinking.

Bah, the health effects... I've heard so much of it. I drink tea because of the culture, the taste and the feeling. It's very calming.
Jade DongDing just brewing.

I love it, like the potential health benefits, and quite like the whole tea culture/ceremony! It is certainly better for me than a lot of the alternatives I have chosen over the years ... substitution is key to betterment!

And began the TD with Gamnong green top grade from Hankook. This is likely my fave Korean true tea so far. Has depth and delicious flavor and aroma. I think I like it because it approaches a Japanese tea, like Guricha ... served up in Deishi Kyusu and SO #7 Deishi Shiro Oni Hagi Wan! SweeTea joined in today while Pyrit hung out at the TeaTable.

I drink tea because its a better alternative than soda, the 'possible' health benefits, and simply because I like the taste.

I went with mostly the same response (I only selected two options because a third would have been redundant).

I still drink soda, but I've been drinking a lot less since I started drinking more tea. It's probably better for my teeth, for one thing (even diet soda. I believe it contains more acid than a black tea). Of course, it doesn't help a whole lot that I happen to like lemon and other acidic/tangy items, as well as sweet things. My teeth never really stood a chance :(

And if I didn't drink it, I wouldn't have a whole lot to say here

I love it period :!:

It was the one thing that I was a "non-complying" patient about when my doc restricted several things because of aspiration problems! To everything else I add Thick-It, but hot tea w/Thick-It is absolutely revolting. I accepted the risk, and obey the rules of proper swallowing. :)

I love it, and it's better than what I'd be drinking otherwise.

Organic Bai Hao from Rishi this afternoon. Trying to motivate myself to get some writing done.

I drink tea because I just love it!! Also, I've been kind of obsessed with tea parties since I was very little and with the Japanese tea ceremony (and all other things Japanese  ) since I learned about it in elementary school.

My other reason for drinking tea is the amazing variety of tastes, scents, and colors it offers. I'm an aspiring artist, so these things grab me.

Right now, I'm drinking some green tea with lotus petals. My after-dinner tea will probably by a rosemary tisane.

I love it, and that is all.

Put a pot of green tea Masala chai on the stove this morning and kept ladelling more into my cup as it got cold. Great companion while baking dozens and dozens of muffins. I'm leaving my husband soon for a week, and he's got to have something to eat while I'm gone...
