Tuesday TeaDay 3/16/10 Zinger of a topic?

by Chip » Mar 16th, '10, 00:36

Be prepared to think GREEN tomorrow!

Welcome all tea drinkers to another TeaDay, come and share what is in your cup today, all day! Be sure to check out what everyone else is sipping today. If you need to, you can reflect back on your TeaDay as well. Regardless, check in frequently.

Yesterday we discussed whether we discard tea ... and how. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.

Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic, this is an oldie but a goodie from Hop. We have spoken about caffeine in the past, but he has put a humorous spin on how does caffeine affect us. So, have some fun today sharing caffeine induced experiences.

I am looking forward to seeing everyone on TeaDay. Bottoms up, refill, repeat.................

Had to vote "other" as I generally experience an interesting combination of energy ("zing") and soothing comfort.
Once again, enjoying a j g blend.

It helps me through some of those low points especially morning, noon, night.....or at least, early evening.

Today's teaday started with Yunnan Mao Feng, moved on to some Yi Wu Mountain bamboo-aged sheng puerh, and finished with gongfu Tie Guan Yin in my celadon gaiwan set. A mellow, sweet, tea day.

It's comforting for me to have a hot cup of tea during the day...

Had a few nice cups of Wagh Bakri Indian tea. One of my favorites.

I can never tell if what I have is a lack-of-caffeine headache or a dehydration headache, but thankfully tea solves both those problems. So I'd say the most noticeable effect is that it gets rid of said headaches. :D

Soothing comfort...I often drink tea to relax before I goto sleep...like I´m doing right now with some special roast dong ding from floating leaves tea :)

Though some teas give stronger effects...it´s not a zing of energy......a sensual feeling while sipping, the warmth spreading through my body followed by a floating feeling like a deep meditative trance...

Yep relaxing. Sometimes energizing too.
A cup of some yellow tea, yes?

I don't think that I've ever really gotten any kind of buzz or soothing effect from tea. I drink tea because I'm thirsty and because of the flavor. I've never really felt energized or soothed by it. I certainly don't drink tea to relax - far too busy for that. Usually keep a cup on the desk while I'm busy working.

Welcome to the forum Leafbox, glad you joined us! Why not introduce yourself under Intro and let us get to know more about you.
Tea is very comforting and relaxing for me, however there are times at work where I need that quick zing that can be accomplished for me by a good black tea!

This morning a 'new' sencha for me, so new I can't remember the name, guess Chip will have to fill you in.

Have a good one, everyone! Share lots of tea today.

I get a slight kick from it, but nothing too dramatic.

Soothing comfort I guess more than anything. Nothing real noticeable for me with my usual teas. Not sure if it as actually the tea or the slowing down and the appreciation of it, that brings the soothing.

Small earthquake here this morning - enough to wake you from sleep and rattle the nerves.

In my cup this morning Darjeeling Oolong by Camellia Sinensis in Canada.

If I don't show up for a few days, don't worry. My CHF symptoms have returned and doc sent meds.

Soothing comfort here for me for everything but matcha.

Matcha shows a bit of a "kick" though.

A tradition here just before the second dawn of the typical noborigama firings is making matcha. Keeps me going at that point (I will have been up stoking about 26-28 hours straight at that point).

best,

.............john

Hope the meds act quickly and you're back with us soon, artmom!

I answered "soothing comfort" on today's poll. The effects I feel from tea's caffeine and other sources such as soda are completely different. Tea peps me up a bit, but not in a "wired" kind of way. When I used to overdo the Diet Pepsi (I know, I know!) I would get that twitchy legged, not being able to sit still effect.

Nilgiri Glendale OP in my cup this morning.
