Saturday TeaDay 3/20/10 Philosophically speaking?

by Chip » Mar 20th, '10, 02:10

Welcome everyone to TeaDay!!! I mean everyone. So, fill a pot of tea and come share what is in your cup now and through out the day. Post as often as you want. While you are here, be sure to see what is in everyone's cup as well! That is at least half the fun. If you must, you can also reflect back on your TeaDay...

Yesterday we discussed TeaWords that we did not know, sort of. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.

Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. It can be philosophical, but it can be simply fun if you choose. If you were a tea, what would it be? I am not asking what is your favorite, but what would you BE. So, share with everyone today on TeaDay.

I look forward to seeing everyone on TeaDay today!!!

Oolong.
Not sure if I can explain.
Haven't been drinking much oolong of late.
Intuitively tho, yeah, oolong.

jasmine silver needle was quaffed a little bit ago.

Almost picked a flowering tea, but...

Black- probably Assam. Probably cheap. Probably C-T-C.

Hearty- Bold- Bitter...fits me fairly well.

I guess I'd be an oolong...

While my personality is predominantly, strongly introverted I have extraverted traits and have, over the years learned to switch these on/off as needed(like at work, say) which perhaps to other people makes me seem more balanced between the two.
Something in between green&black/introvert&extravert.

I reckon I'd be a black tea; brisk, bright, but comfy, too, especially when a dash of milk, and some demerara sugar is added! Let me stew too long, and I can be bitter.

Nice canisters. :)
Great!! What color did you get????
Victoria, I chose the black Marco Polo tin; and the Calligraphy of Tea -- Japon tin. I was a bit disappointed in the color because the blue is much darker than the blue shows on the website. However, the colors I really wanted were out of stock. I'll get more of this particular set, because I love calligraphy. :)

Did a quick tea bag tea this morning  ; wasn't in the mood to do anything more than boil water and pour. It was a Harney & Sons English Breakfast and actually, it didn't taste bad. Of course, I had an English muffin with it, so it really didn't matter about the tea!

Well, I am definitely the Queen of extraverts, very opinionated and straightforward, nothing hidden about me ... in fact would be King if I had the right bodyparts!

So I most assuredly have to be a black tea for the boldness and strength that is prevalent in this type of tea. However, I could also be a green that was brewed incorrectly ... too astringent and/or bitter ... i.e. strong.

My personaliTea is anything but demure and unassuming!
Yep, that's me to a T-ea!

Hmmmm...altho' Pu-erh would work too ... earthy... Yikes, better defer the final answer to the Mod on this one. :?

Korean tea from Hankook in my cuppa this morning, Gamnong with Chip.

My husband says I am a "Pu erh" or a black. Apparently, high maintenance, rare, like a fine wine better with age, EXPENSIVE like a Pu erh, and robust like a black.

I don't know if I should take that as a compliment or not?

I think I like Japanese greens so much because they match my personality so well. More precise, structured. Yet very "green" which I am in so many ways. I must be a Japanese green!!!

Yeah, began the TD with Gamnong Korean green from Hankook as you already know  Premo stuff. Served up in Deishi Biwa ...

Well for once I AM what I DRINK. I am definitely an oolong for so many reasons. I am mellow and sweet with no astringency. I have a floral fragrance which relates to my love of fragrances. Usually sunny and bright but sometimes I can be dark and sweet with many interesting layers as you get to know me.

I am easy to brew, easy to get along with, not high maintenance. I can be brewed up fancy or plain, in any pot or cup.

In my cup this morning Japanese black.

After a fair amount of thought on the subject... I'm going to go with my first instinct, since I can't reason it out - Oolong. I identify with Seeker on this one, it's not something I can explain, it's just the "first-response, best-response," and I can't vocalize it.

Yunnan Noir this morning on the way to the salon, now sipping 2nd infusion of Den's Orange Sencha (not overly impressed, nearly non-existent orange, but still refreshing and good).

A fairly young sheng puerh: at best, can be very mellow and sweet, but a bit tempermental at times.

Today's tea day started with a magical cup of Dens anniversay tea sample, a sencha extra green with matcha and a sprinkle of gold leaf
Image.

Then some equally magical (but not as sparkly!) 'Precious rare white tea'.

Alright I had to think about this for awhile...

But I am a black tea, Strong and Bold, and there is just something familiar about me. I'm like an old friend, and not too fussy, but if you abuse me things can become bitter rather quick.

You put it so well that I borrowed from you, artmom! I'd definitely be a black.

Had two cups of Nilgiri Nonsuch this morning while setting up our new computer. :D It's kind of intimidating because we bought our old computer in 2001, so a LOT has changed. The speed on this new machine is almost supersonic compared to the old one. Ziiiiipppppppp!

Now on to the printer, which looks way more complicated than our 12 year old HP. :?

I expected this poll to be dominated by the green people. This is much more even than I expected. You know how I voted. :)

Two sessions of yuuki-cha kabusecha this morning and now some organic asamushi from umami-chaya FTW.

W00t to the first day of Spring! :D Just picture those well-groomed tea bushes in Japan getting ready to sprout new leaves...
