Sunday TeaDay 3/21/10 Let's get philosofical, philosophical?

by Chip » Mar 21st, '10, 01:24

Yesterday we discussed what tea we were, philosophically speaking. You may still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.

Welcome everyone to TeaDay. Fill your pot and share with everyone what is in your cup today, all day! Frequent updates are a must. Make sure you check out what is in everyone else's cup...that is at least half the fun. If you need to, you can reflect back on your TeaDay.

Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic is inspired by yesterday's. So, today we get philosophical again. What teaware would you be...and why? Have fun or be dead serious, whatever floats your tealeaves today. You can pick whatever teaware you want ...

See you all on TeaDay. Bottoms up ...

I can relate to yixing pots :D. Those small teapots are so cute and modest.
Yesterday I bought Huang Zhi Xiang, my first dan cong, Tai Ping Hou Kui and Lu'an Guapian. This day is going to be fun :) .

Gaiwan,

I can do many different things well but not speciallized into doing just one thing great. I would have to be thick porcelain because I wouldn't burn very many peoples fingers :)

Its a sad day because I just used the last of my Jiu Hua fo cha this morning but on the bright side  a new spring batch is just a few weeks away.

Today I feel like a Tray. Many things are making my tray full today. Today's tray is heavy, but manageable. Hoping to have less things on my tray soon. At least tea is on my tray today, and I get to enjoy it right now.

Oh I'm a teapot. I like having hot tea in me!! I am a kyusu, I can brew most any tea. I love cross brewing; I am multicultural. This is starting to feel like the infamous Katherine Hepburn "what kind of tree are you?" interview.

Silk Road Tea Red Peach to start the day.

I am a digital scale, because I like to weigh and balance things as I make decisions.

Today's first decision to be weighed is whether to start my day with sencha, or with some an hui white tea that I left in a tin overnight with some pomelo blossoms to scent it.

This is harder than the what type of tea I am question.

I am going with a Dens Bomb Proof Kyusu. As in I do not break easily, and am great for just about all occasions.

Some 2009 7542 Brewing for me right now.

I would be a tea cup, one that is carefully made by an artisan potter and unique. Though there might be other cups in the same style with close to the same glazing, there is not another one exactly like me.

Currently in my cup is Fukamushi Magokoro from Yuuki-cha. I am still trying to finish off my collection of senchas before shincha.

"I'm a little tea pot, short and stout," British style, with a crocheted tea cozy on. :) But that humble hand-made tea cozy hides the very best bone china you can find. Long lasting, and I don't chip easily! :D

Again, this morning was a Harney & Sons English Breakfast teabag! Mornings haven't been good lately. But for this afternoon I plan a pot of Silk Road Teas Organic Red Peach (Hong Tao Mao Feng).

Kyusu, specialized, focused, and brews Japanese greens like no other.

I am a specialized kinda guy by nature, going gung ho and with acute focus wherever my interest happen to be ... and I brew Japanese greens like no other!!! Oh, I am the most humble person I know as well.

Yet the Kyusu represents diversity which I ardently support by my TC motto, "Brew how you like, like how you brew!" And this one, "Like what you drink, drink what you like!"

Began the TD with the Mystery Sencha from Ryu Mei, this stuff is a life saver since I am otherwise depleted of sencha til Shincha. SweeTea joined me while Pyrit and Ceylon smelled the cooking brunch.

I picked up the Ao Tebineri Hagi Kyusu to use, and realized, the walls were too thick to brew this tea, like I said, specialized!

I'm gonna go with chawan, because a few people really MUST have them, but most everyone else takes a look and says "Well, what's THAT for? Soup?"

So, this week, I got a rather nice payment on a loan that I wasn't confident would ever be paid. You know what that means... TEA SHOPPING! WOOO!

I hit up Yunnan Sourcing (my chinese wares and teas have been sadly neglected, can you believe I only have two little chunks of puerh, and about 30g of loose-leaf puerh right now?!) I have not one, but TWO teapots on the way, and a small stockpile of samples. Yay!

I also hit up Rishi-tea because I've wanted this teapot FOREVER, and decided to finally buy it. But wouldn't you know, the it's out of stock, and I am so sad. LOL! (Anyone have this pot in "minty" condition, and want to part with it?)

Now, I've spent several hours over the last few days looking for a small yixing with 3 legs, since I love that shape (I think Sal has one.) But I keep coming up snake eyes. :( (Like I need another teapot! )

Last night we went to a St Paddy's Day dinner (yes, a little belated, but we are too old to party on a Wednesday. Ha!) I'm feeling it today, it must be admitted. Go here for the Poppets' reaction in: The Aftermath.

I'll say a teaspoon. I can be measured and precise, but also stir things up occasionally.

Had "Country Sunshine" in my cup this morning. A citrusy flavored tea. Not a favorite, but nice to change things up a bit.
