Hi there!

by Crafty_Mom » Mar 28th, '10, 22:29

My name is Kristina, and I've been drinking loose leaf tea for a few months. I had been a loyal coffee drinker for years, like most of the members of my family, until one day Husband bought me a lovely tea pot and some loose leaf tea as a gift. I've been hooked ever since.

And then I broke said teapot. I'm clumsy. For this reason, and the fact that I have two young children, I don't have any really nice teaware, nor will I in the foreseeable future.

So we got another teapot, but it didn't make great tea. We now have an adagio ingenuiTEA, which I like and would have to actually try to break it. :D

We are now trying out different tea companies and searching for what we like and don't like. We've kind of got a running list of places to try until we find one we really like. Our first place had amazing tea, but some serious customer service issues. The next place was Teavanna, which we find we like neither the tea nor the customer service.

I will now admit that I have no idea what is being talked about here half the time since I am so new, but I am doing my research and am learning all about it. I never new there were so many different kinds of tea and such a difference in quality and flavor. But now the problem is that I want to try everything.

I still want to try almost everything, and I've been more serious about my tea for about 3 years now. I don't think that is going to go away anytime soon, since I the least few months have brought a breakthrough in understanding and brewing green teas, so now I want to drink more of them along with the oolongs and puerhs etc.

This is a pretty good place to learn more about all kinds of tea. And for people like us who are may not be able to provide a safe home for seriously gorgeous teaware, there are lots of pictures of other people's stuff so we can vicariously enjoy it.

I'm having a lot of fun with my teaware, almost none of which has cost more than $20 per item (except the kettles and one pot), although the tea I put in them has cost more.

Thank you for the introduction post, Kristina.

Enjoy your tea journey, and share it with us. You can certainly learn a lot here, including about vendors who sell great tea, and not so great tea!

Thanks for the welcome, everyone! I am very excited to be here. I do wish I had found this place sooner, though. I've seen the list of approved tea places and am so happy that my most recent order came from one of the shops listed, though I didn't know that at the time. Some (hopefully) lovely English Breakfast and Oregon Chai is on it's way. The Oregon Chai ingredients look a lot like Masala Chai, but then what do I know?
