Teabox strings
This might seem like a silly question but I really don't know the proper and elegant way to tie the strings of a chawan box. Does anyone know how? Maybe step-by-step photos?

Not a silly question, there is a trick to it. You can see a demo here:

Two thumbs up, and two toes up too! AWESOME!
I just received my kuro-raku that comes in a wonderful box. I was trying to pay attention to the knot as I untied it but I still couldn't get it to be the way it was. NOW I can practice.
Many thousand thanks!

Re: Teabox strings
I grew up in the 70s and 80s when little fundie girls wore dresses with pinafores and big bows. I learned to tie a flat, straight bow by the time I was 10. Still had to use the video to get the hang of the tie-box, but I no longer need the video.

Re: Teabox strings
I recently received my first chawan that came in a box and I actually took photos as I untied it cause I knew there was no way I'd remember once untied. It worked great. Now I've memorized method and I feel super cool.
