Welcome one and all to TeaDay. Come and fill a pot and share what is in your cup all day, frequent updates are a bonus. Make sure you also check out what is in everyone else's cup as well, it is amazing what teas are being sipped here on TeaDay. If you need to, you can also reflect back on your TeaDay.
Yesterday we discussed TeaBooks. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.
Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic deals with how do we deal with caffeine in relation to bedtime. When do was say STOP...or don't you ever have to say stop. So, share with everyone how you deal with caffeine and bed time.
I am looking forward to seeing you on TeaDay.

Hard to say...I work night shift, have a hard time sleeping during the day anyway, and normally wind up taking about 3 naps instead of sleeping a full 8 hours or so all at once. I just normally save my caffeine time for work hours.
Re: Saturday TeaDay 4/10/10 Putting tea to rest?
I've never had the problem of tea affecting my sleep. I sleep crappy all the time, so why bother!

I usually try to stop caffeine right after lunch. But I cheat sometimes with a lower caffeine tea like Houjicha, or tell myself if I have already steeped it a couple of times its safe.

Gorgeous Spring day here! Hope it where you are.
Normal stopping time is about 4 hours before bedtime -- which is usually around 1 to 2 a.m.
No tea yet this a.m.; but am looking forward to a good TeaDay!

Right up to bedtime for me..never have had any issue with caffeine keeping me up. my favorite tea time is actually my late night sessions when everyone else is in bed
Re: Saturday TeaDay 4/10/10 Putting tea to rest?
4 hours before bedtime is my preference but sometimes I just can't resist having 1 more cup after that.

You are so lucky, iannon. I always crave sencha after dinner but it's usually too late for any caffeine by then. 4pm is my official caffeine cutoff time but I have broken my own rule plenty of times... and I usually pay the price. My overall caffeine tolerance has improved greatly over the last few years of drinking sencha every day so I can't complain. But it sure must be nice to be able to do those late night sessions!iannon wrote:Right up to bedtime for me..never have had any issue with caffeine keeping me up. my favorite tea time is actually my late night sessions when everyone else is in bed

I used to blame caffeine for difficulty in sleeping, when in reality I am a night owl. I can suddenly get a second wind at midnight. Still I avoid caffeine for 4 hours before bedtime in order to avoid exasperating the situation.
Began the TeaDay with an old aged sencha of unknown origins. It was OK, but I am really scraping the bottom of the barrel! SweeTea did not complain however. Pyrit was TeaTable top.
Next up, a tasting of the NEW MAESTRO SERIES FROM ADAGIO. You may not care for fancy names such as Maestro for a tea, but the teas are the "real deal" imho. This morning, the new Pouchong and the new Ti Kuan Yin. So, they call the series Maestro, but use the authentic origin names! I sense this was a compromise?
6 steeps in ... and still really putting out!!!!! On the left, Pouchong, and the right Ti Kuan Yin. These are fantastic, and along with the new Ali Shan, they could be the best I have ever had from Adagio. http://www.adagio.com/maestro/ Oddly, no big fanfare for them today as I expected as today was the official debut.

Tea right up to bed time...the caffeine isn´t an issue but random anxieties are...drinking tea at bed time helps me relax and clear my mind so I can sleep better

As my birthday is December, I got a sampler of Zodiac Series Sagittarius which is an Earl Grey creamy blend. Apparently the "creamy" part held the bergamot flavor down a bit; however, I have a nice, fresh, lemony feeling on my tongue when I breath in and it's been about 1/2 hour since I finished my cuppa'.
Chip, you just HAD to post that link, didn't you?
I just ordered both samples! I had already been on Adagio looking for them and couldn't find them, and then I came back and read your post!

Re: Saturday TeaDay 4/10/10 Putting tea to rest?
I usually have my last tea while cooking and/or with dinner. So I typically stop by 8pm, which is usually about 4 hrs from bed. Not that the caffeine really keeps me up (I used to be able to drink coffee - when I could still drink coffee - and fall asleep less than a half hour later, but why tempt the sleep gods with a reason to keep me awake when I have to be up for work in the morning? Though if I have a reason to stay up later or nothing to do the next day, most bets are off, and I might be making tea at midnight.
Some bagged earl grey this morning with breakfast, but it wasn't as powdered as the white I had yesterday, so at least that's a plus.

I have to usually stop by 3:00. I hate that. Seriously.
