Temperature display Kettle at good price
I am looking for a temperature display kettle that i can use instead of using a thermometer i figured a kettle would be more efficient. I found one from Dragon Tea on E bay but it can't be used in the U.S. please help me

Is something like this what you are looking for:

I have heard good things about this.

I am quite pleased with this one from Pino, where it brings the water to the temp I enter on the keypad, and holds it there:
http://www.amazon.com/PINO-ST-8706-Digi ... 723&sr=8-1
So far works great, but I have only had it for a month, so can't comment on durability yet.

Ordered the kettle from Pino via Amazon. I don't think Pino sells tea; were you asking if I'd ordered tea from Amazon?
If so, the answer is yes, but only some tulsi tea: a friend brought some back from a trip to India, and I couldn't find the plain tea in my nearby Indian grocery. But I get most of my C sinensis teas from my local shops, especially
Wing Hop Fung, and online from norbutea.com and densteas.com. I've also been happy with first orders of from jingteashop.com, houdeasianart.com, and yunnansourcing.com.

I found the pino kettle at NMteaco.com. It was the same price as amazon but the shipping was less. How did you like the tulsi tea and where can i buy some at? I have never tried it plain only in a blend in a bottle i think it was called guayaki. It was yerba mate with tulsi.

I found the straight tulsi tea at amazon.com. It has a nice cinnamon-spicy-peppery flavor to it, and is nice plain or in herbal tisane blends. Just search for tulsi and you'll find several options, including some of the straight stuff.

Re: Temperature display Kettle at good price
I have the Pino kettle and like it. But I feel I should say that it doesn't "hold" the temperature I set so much as "loiter in its neighborhood". I don't think it's malfunctioning, but this is what happens: I set the temp for 176 degrees. It heats to 176 at which point the "warming" light comes on, but the water continues to heat up to at least 183 (and sometimes to 186), and then cools down to 176. That makes sense because how do you stop the temperature on a dime. But it does not hold at 176. It continues to cool to 170 before the kettle kicks back on to heat it back to 176 - which means it really heats to 183 again, and so on. I didn't think about what +/- 3% really means when I read about the kettle: for 176F, that's almost 5 degrees. I assume all of this type of kettle work this way, the zoji, etc.
But again, I like it because it's better than my "tetsubin in a tea cozy " method where the water would drop to 150F by the third infusion.

Interesting. I think the Zojirushi electric dispensing pot that is also a thermos probably keeps the temperature closest to the indicated temperature because it is a thermos and the temperature doesn't easily fluctuate like the other kinds.Tea_Rex wrote:I have the Pino kettle and like it. By the way, I find it hilarious that on this board that "zoji" is used to refer to an electric dispensing pot. You know, Zojirushi does make many other things including bread machine, rice cooker, lunch boxes, etc. And, there are other companies that make electric dispensing pots like Panasonic, Supentown, Tiger etc.

The Pino is definitely not a thermos. The walls of the kettle are thin metal (steel?), and so the water drops in temperature about one degree every minute and a half or so.
