It is TeaDay everyone. So, bring your cup of tea and share with everyone what teas you are drinking today. Half the fun is seeing what teas other TeaChatters are sipping as well.
Yesterday we discussed Pu-erh. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.
Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. Continuing last weeks topics, it is the "TEA's" turn, tisanes, herbals, the untea, whatever you want to call them. Share with us if you care to about your experience with Herbals. Love 'em, like 'em, hate 'em, yet to try 'em. Let it all out here. Are there some Herbals you like more than others?
I will be looking for you on TeaDay and hope you honor us with sharing what is in your cup! Bottoms up.

Re: Tuesday TeaDay 4/20/10 Herbal essence?
Have just had some brilliant pots of lemon-myrtle rooibos from the Cultured Cup. Marvelous combination that I can't stop raving about.
I started with tea in chinese restaurants, then moved on to the better stuff Dad brewed at home, but that was just one kind of jasmine, and one kind of ti kuan yin. Then I got to college and the hot water urn was on 24/7 with copious supplies of coffee (ick!), and mostly celestial seasonings bagged herbal teas nearby. There wasn't much actual tea. So, I started trying those when I didn't want plain water. I still have a handful of bags left from before I started making my own mixes, which probably have almost no flavor left. Even the home-prepped mixes are getting little use lately, however, as I have enjoyed more and more wonderful genuine teas.
Going to have a cup of the lemon myrtle rooibos now.

I drink herbals occasionally and really love them. Especially the ones that are easy to grow so I can have fresh herbal tea whenever I want. I think lemon balm is my favorite because it tastes great and is so soothing followed by apple mint just because its yummy.

I have a mug of Rooibos very occasionally, usually when I have a cold and feel it's a waste to drink my better stuff, that's about it!

I have them occasionally - mostly because they are my only alternative since caffeine keeps me up.

The only herbal I drink is peppermint. It's quite soothing when I have the "tummy wobbles." I have tried chamomile, but didn't care for it.
I have stayed away from other herbals because I'm on several medications, and don't want any interactions.
Just found out the rumble and shaking of my bed this a.m. that awakened me was what I thought it was, an earthquake! Barclay and I awakened; hubby slept through it. We don't have many tremors here; we're near a very old, small fault line.
"The USGS has confirmed what many residents of Blount County felt this morning, that a 3.3 magnitude earthquake hit the area at 5:28 am." from our local newspaper online.

Wow - what a way to wake up ArtMom.
I drink Roobios about every other day. I have a limit to the amount of caffeine I can handle so its an alternative. Last night I had a pot with some Berry Blast.
I have planted some mints/lemon balm on a bank this year and plan to experiment with those as well.
Started this morning with Dragon Pearls.

It depends on the type. I keep trying rooibos, but so far I don't like the taste (but my roommate does, so there's always some in the house - so I try it occasionally). I haven't tried honeybush, no real desire to. As far as random herbals go, I don't want to list out likes and dislikes so we'll just say: I like a few, am fairly picky, but less likely to be picky if it's mixed with C. sinensis. I more like the flavor it can add to another tea than necessarily the herb by itself.
No tea yet, am on the way out the door to work! Thinking oolong this morning.

Well, I tried the Maestro Yunnan Pu erh Gold this morning. I won't drink it in the morning again, because the earthy, fungal aroma is a bit more than I can handle this early! However, the taste was smooth, and it did'nt taste like it smelled. It took a drop of milk nicely.
As I really like to savor the aroma of tea, this would not be high on my list for that factor. However, I will drink it again and would like to try some aged pu erh.
Don't know if I'll do a second steep of this or just toss the leaves.

The only herbal I really enjoy is Rooibos. My absolute favorite is Rooibos Chai from Harney's Tea, but a close second is a mix of Adagio Vanilla and Caramel Rooibos. I can't drink too much regular tea - 2 sessions of green tea and I may have trouble sleeping - so Rooibos is a great alternative.
Also, the Vanilla/Caramel mix is a major favorite with guests who can't deal with any caffeine whatsoever.

Occasionally a warm beverage in the evening is so soothing. I prefer honeybush over rooibos but either will suffice. The fruit tisanes are very nice too, when I don't want caffeine for one reason or another. Yum.
Hope the rest of your day is on solid ground artmom!

Boy, I agree artmom! Must've been a rather 'awakening' experience.CynTEAa wrote:

Mystery sencha again this morn with the mod and our teacats! =^.^=!
I truly enjoy a mint, preferable peppermint tisane, however fresh spearmint will work too! Extremely refreshing as a cold drink in wth hotter months, but also delish hot on a cold evening.
Hope everyone enjoys their TeaDay.

I keep boxes of Celestial Seasoning's Sleepytime and Peppermint on hand, and I'll have one of these if I want something warm that won't keep me awake.

I love my herbal drinks. But most of the time, instead of making them into "tea", I would rather make them into soup (maybe not that much different from herbal tea anyway) and add in sugar, honey and other (also herbal) condiments.
