Friday TeaDay 4/30/10 Forget food! Got tea ...

by Chip » Apr 30th, '10, 00:31

Yay, it is Friday's version of TeaDay!!! So, stop by as much as you can and share a cup with all of us, we never close. See what everyone is drinking and tell everyone what you are drinking!!! It's fun to see what everyone is drinking.

While you are here, remember to vote in today's TeaPoll OK, I can relate here ... today's TeaPoll question is whether drinking tea ever causes you to miss a meal or simply forget to eat?

This opens up a lot of discussion possibilities such as does tea help you lose weight, is it an appetite suppressant...or do you simply enjoy your tea so much that you just forget about eating...etc!!!

So, have fun with this discussion.

Yesterday we discussed what tea we would like to try NEXT. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.

And have a great TeaDay TeaChatters!!!

Working in computers and games, I know a lot of people who say it happens all the time, but I still don't understand how folks can forget to *eat*.

If I don't eat, my stomach pain gets worse and worse and eventually develops into a full blown stomach ache, cramps, and bloating/gas so bad that I can't walk.

If I don't eat, my brain focuses more and more on food, shutting out everything else, focusing on nothing else, until I start wanting to tear people's faces off so they shut up and get out of my way so I can get food.

I gather I'm an extreme case. I like to eat small whole meals every few hours throughout the day to maintain balance and my happy mood. Don't understand how folks can eat snacks consisting of nothing but fried potatoes or pure carbohydrates. If I don't eat a heavy combination of fats, protein, carbohydrates, and vegetable/fruit matter every time I get hungry, the hunger just gets worse.

No, tea helps me remember to eat...I get nausious if I drink tea on an empty stomach...so when I get tea cravings is mealtime or snack time first. :?

Before I was a tea drinker I could forget to eat...or decide not to eat...I´m a bit anorexic  But the tea cravings force me to eat

Happened this morning, in fact: was drinking my sencha, out of my new yunomi from Ginkgo after it was inspected and approved by my tea tech inspector cat

and suddenly it was time to go to work NOW and I hadn't had any cereal or toast or anything. I did arrange some last minute hot chocolate but it was a close thing.

I don't usually miss a meal entirely, but I do get wrapped up in tea and forget to eat at the usual times....

I have, probably twice a year, not necessarily forgotten to eat as much as just didn't have time. I've gotten better about it lately and at least have something that I can grab on the way out the door (or better yet, eat something before leaving and grab that for the eventual "don't have time to take a break to go get lunch/dinner/whatever"). Unfortunately, I go from hungry, to starving, to not hungry whatsoever. Apparently my body just decides that I'm never getting food again, so why bother telling my brain I want any? Then I feel nauseous when I do eat... and my whole day is ruined. So in this long answer, I'm basically saying: no, tea doesn't make me forget to eat. Work makes me forget to eat on very rare occasions.

Headed to work, maybe some MF Marco Polo with breakfast :)

No tea yet, but soon!

Usually tea will inspire me to find a snack, but then I'll feel less hungry and kinda skip over lunch. Xine scolds me all the time.

My friend says I am religious on (eating) food. Never do I voluntarily miss a meal  Besides, I enjoy tea only when my stomach is at least half-full.

Only occasionally in the morning I will skip breakfast over tea. But since I usually have a second breakfast that's not too bad

Fukamushi-Sencha in my cup this morning.

I don't like to drink tea on a full stomach, so I do occasionally miss a meal because I'm tied up in tea drinking. The few times I have tried doing more than 2 steeps of a tea I have skipped a meal because I'm so full from tea. But I usually remember to eat...eventually.

Rishi's Orange blossom green tea this morning. Made a gallon iced of the stuff and can't get enough. It's sweet without sugar :)

Happens all the time but not because of tea. Especially when Im away at a friends house, we get so caught up in other stuff we both forget about eating and the next day Im starving. Tea on the other hand is never forgotten :)

Finished up another sample today. This time He Huan Shan which was very tastey but I liked the da yu ling and lishan a little better.
