Greetings everyone. Welcome to teaDay. Please stop in and share what is in your cup throughout the day, and check out what is in everyone's cup as well.
Yesterday we discussed Revelation Teas. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.
All are welcome to TeaDay, newbies...help us to get to know you...and get to know us. Visit TaDay often throughout the the day and post as often as you want.
Speaking of sipping...today's TeaPoll and discussion topic deals with our enjoyment of our cup of tea...that is...do you sip, slurp, gulp, or chug your tea? So, share with us...how do you enjoy your tea. Are you a sipper, a slurper, a gulper, a chugger? And why?
Have a great TeaDay everyone!

Re: Thursday TeaDay 5/6/10 Sipping while you gulp?
I used to gulp; but now I sip - so I marked other. I sip to keep from aspirating the tea, as aspirating something caused me to get pneumonia and I ended up on oxygen 24/7. That's why I actually enjoy my tea more now than in the past.

I do all those things, depending on the temperature of the tea. First I take a very careful sip or two, then a series of slurps. Then I gulp, before I proceed to chugging. This procedure does attrack some attention from passers-by.
Right now in the chugging stage of some slightly too astringent sencha.

Mostly sip, at least until the tea starts to get cool, at which point I switch to gulping - partially because I'm no longer worried about burning my mouth, and partially because by that point, if I don't drink it quickly it'll get too cold. That mostly happens at work where there's a much higher chance of me having to run off and do something else and coming back to nearly-tepid tea.

I only wish I could visit often... work has blocked everything chat- or social-networking-like. No TeaChat and I only get email on my lunch break.Chip wrote:Visit TaDay often throughout the the day and post as often as you want.

Sometimes it's nice to chug iced tea on a hot day... but I put sip because that's what I do 99% of the time.

Sipping is the best way I've found to enjoy my teas to the fullest. Small steepings in small teapots, coupled with sips from thimble-sized tasting cups, creates an opportunity to really experience all of the changes that a tea can go through throughout its life.
If I've got a miserable cold or I've just come back from a long day of teaching, the tea goes into a huge mug, but I still sip: long, slow forays into the handled mug let the steam do the most good.

The day started out overcast. The sun is coming out and a nice breeze is coming in through the window. Sitting here listening to some light classical music, doing some reading, and having a pot of Wuyi Ensemble oolong tea.
I normally sip. I may do more gulping if the tea is getting cold or if I need to get going, but generally I like to take my time to enjoy my tea.

I'm a slurper first, sipper second. I like to slurp, especially with a new tea, feels like I'm able to get more flavors.

Currently sipping on a nice Chinese green called Lao Shan (Mt. Lao), the northernmost green grown in China, known and loved around Shandong province, characterized by creamy sweetness paired with a nice, thick, beany flavor. This one's from last spring, but kept in the freezer, it's still as good and green as it was a year ago.

I sip, mostly. I turn to gulping when I'm in a rush for some reason or another.
In fact, I just finished gulping down the cold remnants of an East Friesian Blend/Assam Hazelbank mix.

I sip cautiously to test temperature, slurp to catch the sweetness of a hot young puerh before the bitter catches up, and chug or gulp the last of a pot or thermos when I really just want to get on to the next infusions of something else.

Began the TD with Korean Doo Mool organic green. There is NO sencha in the house.
But there is mucho coming!!!
This was an interesting cup, somewhat sweet, with a veggie background, and a touch of cocoa in the aroma. SweeTea enjoyed it while Pyrit and Shincha visited the TeaTable this morning.
