I just checked with my Pu Er expert friend. Here is the answer. Just for your reference only.

In 1996, for the Menghai Dayi tea, the factory's name should be Menghai Dayi tea factory, it shouldnt be China Native Imp&Exp name at the bottom of wrapper.

Besides, there is truely purple Dayi raw tea in 1996, but not the same as the one in Ebay.

The 1996 purple Dayi is all purple printing characters on the wrapper, except the Yi(益)character in white. Besides, at the bottom of the factory's name, it is marked Yunnan Xishuanbanna Menghai Tea Industries Co. http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=4609844586
Pictures in here for your reference on how the Purple Dayi looks like. Not gurantee its quality in this website.
Hope it helps. :D
