Well I almost never meet people in the non-internet world who really know anything about tea, so this was a surprise. Even people I've met from China or Japan rarely seem to be that into tea.
I just started a new job in April, and one of the engineers is from Shanghai.
We got to talking about tea, I told her some of my favorite Chinese tea's were Long Jing, An Ji Bai Pian, and Zhu ye Qing. She said she never buys tea in the US but brings it back whenever she visits China, and her relatives send it to her as well.
Anyway I think she was impressed that an American knew a thing or two about tea, and the next day she brought me a 50 gram package of loose leaf!
The package had no English, but I just brewed some and it's quite good.
Very tippy, young leaves. Tastes a bit sweet, pretty similar to what I remember this An Ji from idlu tasted like.
Yummy!
