Sadly, tea is one thing I cannot seem to interest my mother in.

She used to make iced tea in the summertime--a big pitcher full to put in the fridge, but I have never seen her order that in a restaurant, nor will she share any of mine, not even the herbals.

Tea is a good Father's Day item, however.

Mother just got back from visiting my sister in the midwest, so she is trying for a quiet weekend at home. I will be trying for a phone call.

Sundays are usually my day off from work- but this week I'm filling in for a guy who's sick so I can get some much needed OT $. So, my plans are to work and other than bringing a travel mug of iced tea, there's no real tea plans, either. Bummer.

I'm very happy that lately tea has been a "thing" between me and my mom. :D I'd never have expected it because she has always been, as far as I remember, a Coffee Woman. :D I think it started because in our house we're the only early risers, so at first I'd make a cup for just myself, but since she was up and about then anyway, I'd sometimes offer to make one for her as well.

I never thought much of it until one time I was quietly doing my morning wrongfu and she settled herself into the nearby seat and said "So where's mine?" So now it's becoming a bit of a ritual that I prepare a cup for her first, then I make my own. This pleases me so much because I've always been nagging her to cut down on her heavily sugared and creamed coffee intake, and also I feel like I get to do something 'daughterly' for her every morning.

Also: I sometimes have a bad habit of forgetting about my second or third cup of tea, and when I remember it's already cooled down, so sometimes I don't bother. A few times now, my mom, in that perpetual puttering around that they do, comes across my cup and asks "Are you drinking this?" and I say no, then she picks it up and glugs it all down. She's probably shaking her head at my wastefulness. But who knows, maybe I do it on purpose to get her to drink it! muahahaha!

Okay that's it. Sorry for the long mom-and-tea stories!

Happy Mother's Day!

I have plans with my mother, and my husbands mother today, so very busy!

I have outfitted both in the last 6 months with the basic loose leaf tea setups. Both are enjoying it very much, but not to the extent as I do :)

Thinking of bringing my Maestro TKY sample to sip on this afternoon with Mom.

Staring today with Yutaka Midori Shincha which arrived yesterday!

Boiled crawfish and crabs today for Mother's Day... Tea will probably not factor into the actual celebration, but I'm sure I'll have some before days end.

Actually got a call from my mother just a few minutes ago... I was thinking "it's 10am, I just got up, I was planning on calling you, I swear - but not until after my first cup of tea" but the first thing I said was "Happy Mother's Day." Ah well, she knows I hadn't forgotten because I sent her a package that got there on Friday, so I don't feel too bad that she called me first (but it was 10am, I mean really? If it had been 10pm, I would have actually felt bad). But my mother's in a different state, so I did about the best I could - sent a gift and a card and got to talk to her on the phone.

No tea yet, about to make some to go with breakfast while I prepare to go grocery shopping, but not sure what yet.

I have Mother's Day plans, but unfortunately, tea will not be on the agenda. My MiL doesn't care for tea, prefer's coffee. But doesn't stop me from having my morning cuppa. Dawn by The Simple Leaf today.

This morning, a cup of Harney & Sons Hot Cinnamon Sunset (or whatever they are calling it now) in a tea bag--was in a hurry for some tea!

In a couple of hours, lunch at our youngest son's house; he and my DIL are hosting a pot-luck for all the mother's in the family and their families. So, about sixteen or so. DH Ed helped me make potato salad last night; actually, he made it and I seasoned it.

Happy Mother's Day to all out there who ARE, HAD, HAVE, OR ARE ABOUT TO BE MOTHERS!:D

I'm going to call my mother, but I'm still up at school which is about three hours away from her, and I have to work and study today. I had sent her a Mother's Day gift earlier that she loved, so I'm not in any trouble.

Definitely will be drinking tea today though, I'm brewing up a mix of the banana hazelnut muffin blend and some masala chai, and maybe I'll get crazy and froth up some almond milk to make it a latte.

Having a post-luncheon four o'clock cuppa' after getting home from son's house. Really nice event; nice to get together with DIL's family who live in neighboring counties, and DH's sister and family who live about an hour away. Of course, enjoyed being with both sons, and two of my grandkids and only having to travel 3 miles. :D

In my cup MF Marco Polo. yum

Not going to see my mother until later this month, but talked to her on the phone yesterday and called her today, and my brother took her out to a lovely dinner to thank her for everything she's done for him, especially over the last few years.

Actually, she just got back from a trip overseas and found my grandfather's favorite teaset that he drank oolong out of for years and years back in Taiwan. He passed away when I was young, and I never knew he was a big oolong drinker. She's giving it to me when I go visit. I can't wait. :D She says she thinks he'd be very happy to know his granddaughter is using the tea set, as his children never got into serious tea drinking.

She also bought me a box of Tung Ting directly from a tea farm she visited in Taiwan. I can't wait to try it and will ply her for stories. :D
