Welcome to TeaDay, one and all. If you are new to TeaChat, please join in. Pour a pot and share what is in your cup today, all day...so stop back and give updates. If you need to, you can also reflect back on your TeaDay. While you are here, be sure to check out what everyone else is sipping today.
Yesterday we discussed new harvest teas, responses changed quite a bit since I last asked. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's tea.
Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic is Spring and new harvest inspired ... in an abstract way. Have you changed your TeaTastes since last Spring? Yes, No, Maybe, or are you in constant state of flux? Share with us how your tastes have...or have not changed during this period.
I am looking forward to hearing about your TeaDays.

Re: Tuesday TeaDay 5/18/10 Chachacha changes?
Yes my tastes have changed hugely
. Although I think they're in a constant state of flux.
Last spring I hadn't really tasted wulongs yet, and drank a lot of crap also. I also didn't gongfu back then. Now I only settle for higher quality teas, whatever that means.
Now I think I should start buying teas only when I know where and what year they were harvested.

It seems for my breakfast teas I have shifted somewhat toward black teas away from dan cong. It is now 5 times a week instead of 3 times.

I'm one of the boringest tea aficionados ever, and so my tastes change at a glacial pace, if ever. The change-o-meter has been on zero for a while.

Yes, quite a bit! This time last year I would be drinking my morning coffee. In the afternoon/late morning it may be RofT earl grey, jasmine white or Tazo Zen, all in bags.

I am still new-ish to tea (decent tea, that is), but I have found that while I started out with a great affinity for green teas, my tastes have shifted more towards oolongs (though still of the greener variety). I find them to be more complex and interesting now, whereas back in my beginnings I just thought of them as "weird."

Definitely Somewhat Changed.
Since last Spring, I have joined TeaChat. Ya'll are definitely leading me in a different direction. Black tea was an absolute every day, usually every tea time, with only a slight venture into different flavored blacks and an odd oolong or two.
Now, I have even tried greens
! Most days, I only have one black (usually morning) and try various other teas later in the day. I now have lots of teas, and less money!

I have a mystery teapot. I received it as a gift in 1976 from the Japanese student who lived with us for a year. I remember at the time, he mentioned it was a "traditional" teapot. However, I can't seem to find one similar online. Anything you could tell me about it would be appreciated. There are some photos at the following url.

No tea yet this morning.
Thanks.

I voted 'Not really.' I still gravitate toward blacks and oolongs and like artmom, I'm still looking for a green that I really like.

Oh yes my tastes have changed since last spring.
Last spring was my first real adventure into loose tea so I ordered massive amounts of samples trying to find my place with tea. At that time black was my favorite and I had never had quality green, white oolong and didn't know what pu erh was. Thanks to everyone here I knew where to get good samples of many teas and wow have things changed.
My favorite teas are oolongs, more specifically medium roast yancha followed by chinese greens. I still drink black tea occasionally but they are no longer my favorite. I know so many new words its crazy and when someone asks me what my favorite tea is and I tell them something like tie luo han or shui jin gui they look at me funny and say "whats that".

Re: Tuesday TeaDay 5/18/10 Chachacha changes?
My tastes have changed somewhat in that they've expanded hugely without my forsaking any old favorites (except for yerba mate, to which I seem to have developed some sort of allergy
and can no longer stand the taste). Last spring, I was just trying pu-erh-- and falling completely in love with it-- for the first time; had not yet tried rose congou, Yunnan black, pouchong, or shoumei white tea; and was drinking only greens and whites with the occasional herbal tisane. Now, I love everything mentioned above and have incorporated it into my tea habit in a big way.
Currently drinking some keemun, which I'm trying for the first time. I'm kind of on the fence about it-- it's much lighter and more flowery than Yunnan or pu-erh, and it tastes a lot like the rose congou I love so much. The only thing is, there are no roses in it, so I keep feeling like something's kind of amiss.
It'll most likely grow on me after a few more tea sessions of it.

No, definitively not. In fact I haven't tried many new teas for a while.

Yes, my tastes have changed. I'm finding I like more greens than blacks. When I started drinking tea, I really clung to my black teas. But greens seem to relax and rejuvenate me better than black teas. Although I still have a few go to black teas.
