Greetings fellow tea aficionados. Please stop in to TeaDay and share what is in your cup throughout the day! See what others are sipping as well.
Yesterday we discussed how much a cup of tea is close at hand. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.
When a cup of tea seems far far away, not so close at hand, do you find yourself thinking more and more about that next cup. Perhaps directly proportional ... ? Or are you not really affected by the time away from your tea?
I am looking forward to sharing this TeaDay with everyone. Bottoms up!

I think about tea more when it's right in front of me, but, I also have to say, after days without tea at my parents' house I've been thinking about it a lot because I'm craving it. I'm getting tired of soy milk with chocolate malt Ovaltine, hahaha.

Yep, when something enjoyable becomes a habit, it's hard to kick.
Re: Wednesday TeaDay 5/26/10 Far far away ... ?
First time making my own green tea (Karigane) = Failed.
I used my glass teaware, and the problem is, the green tea got stuck in the inner filter. Water won't flow out. Ended up with over brewed bitter green tea.

The glassware is so hot. Burnt my hand holding it while panicking why water wont come out. Nearly broke the glass.
Another problem now is with the inner filter, there are a lot of small pieces of the greens in the hole and it wont come out.
What a disaster... have to practice more and find the right tools to do the right tea.
Now I am trying to brew 1 liter of cold green tea. Put 2 tablesppon of it in 1 liter of water. Hope this will be better for such a hot day these days.

^How about taking the inner filter out (if it's removable). Then again, you'd still have to use a strainer of some sort.
When I'm at my hometown I usually am with my friends all the time, who I don't see as often as I'd like to, so usually there's no time for tea and I don't really miss it. And even when I could brew some good tea at my parent's place, the chances are I'm hung over, and I don't like to drink tea then.

The inner filter can be removed, and I have to go get myself a strainer. Don't have onedooble wrote:^How about taking the inner filter out (if it's removable). Then again, you'd still have to use a strainer of some sort.

Strainers aren't hard to find this one's pretty much exactly what I have and it looks like it averages $3-4. Very easy to use, just need somewhere to set it when you're done. Or there's this one for $4.50.
I normally go without tea for two reasons:
1) Too busy, running around all day, etc. in which case I typically don't miss tea because I'm keeping busy (errands, seeing friends, that sort of thing)
2) out of town or just away from any decent brewing methods, in which case yes, I do sorta crave it, and will sometimes find some way to make it anyway (unless I've forgotten tea and/or can't get hot water). I once brewed grandpa-style in a styrofoam cup at the salon where my boyfriend works. Thankfully it was white tea, so the leaves were a little easier to avoid (my first attempt at grandpa-style!)
Off to work... Yunnan maybe?

Re: Wednesday TeaDay 5/26/10 Far far away ... ?
It's directly proportional for me. The further away my next tea session is, the more I find myself planning it out, even when there's nothing more to plan than what kind of tea I want! (And even then, that can change.)
Giving the keemun another try this morning. It's not that I disliked it last time, but I realize now it needs to be drunk without being compared to rose congou. >.<

Hard to say. Probably because I think about tea so much anyway, I can't really tell. I definitely crave it when I can't have it, being away or just nighttime.
Norbu Winter AliShan in my cup this morning. Delish.

You need something like this:auhckw wrote:The inner filter can be removed, and I have to go get myself a strainer. Don't have onedooble wrote:^How about taking the inner filter out (if it's removable). Then again, you'd still have to use a strainer of some sort.

I have given up on glass filters for the same reason, but I still love glass pots. I have several of these type filters in different sizes.

Hi everyone
I'm officially new to TC--yay. I drink tea about three times a day, (more on a good day), and have been moderately obsessed since... last Fall. Lately I've been spending a lot of time reading here. Let me just say I really appreciate this site because it has helped me learn a lot about tea and make some important decisions regarding tea and teaware.
I do tend to think about my next tea session, but I'm not sure it's directly related to how far away it is. lol, I tend to think about what I will want to drink the next morning when I'm falling asleep at night.
Been sipping my recently-acquired Superfine Long Jing from DTH this morning with my recently-acquired gaiwan... from DTH. It is oh-so sweet and long-jingy. yum
