Coconut Shavings

by Madam Potts » Mar 7th, '06, 12:02

Has anyone had the experience of ordering a blended tea with coconut only to find an oily haze at the top of the cup?

I do realize that coconut has naturally occuring oils (which in many forms is great for the skin, etc), but I find it unappealing in a tea cup.

Can anyone suggest a blend that does not do this?

I ordered the coconut tea from adagio with, I assumed anyway, coconut shavings in it. I didn't notice anything odd at all- I mixed it with chocolate, then rooibos vanilla- yum!!

All tea leaves have some oils. I used to think I wasn't cleaning the pot well enough when I was making iced tea. After steeping and before diluting the tea with water in the pitcher, there would be a slight film of oil on the undiluted tea.

Sorry I don't have any suggestions for you.

I feel like I've had that problem with several teas (particularly earl greys), but I tend to shrug it off. I guess it's just that I'm so used to it from my habitual excessive use of chapstick...
