Soureni Organic Oolong from Fresh Darjeeling Tea

I've been eager to try Darjeeling oolongs for some time, and now I've tried them from four different estates: Tindharia, Soureni, Castelton, and Arya, and from there different brands/companies (Upton, Thunderbolt Tea, and Fresh Darjeeling Tea).

Without a doubt the best one I've tried is Soureni Organic Oolong (link is to my detailed review), which I got as a free sample from Fresh Darjeeling Tea.

I'd recommend it very highly.

I also tried two other teas from this company: Golden Wire (a black tea from GopalDhara estate), which I liked very much, and Monk's Reserve (a very dark oolong from Castelton estate--I was somewhat less of a fan; this tea has a very strong savory quality, think gyokuro-like, which I was less enthusiastic about, but which some people might enjoy).

I'm going to look really dumb for asking this, but could someone tell me what the difference is between "organic" teas and normal teas? I would imagine tea, coming from a plant, it is already organic - my guess would be that "organic" tea is tea that has been processed without the use of pesticides or something, but I've never been properly informed. I know I could search Google for the answer, but I feel like you guys here will give me a more reliable answer than some website trying to sell the product or something.

That is a really big topic. There is much on this forum on the subject. If you type in organic in the forum search, many topics will come up.

It is hard to answer this simply since it is a rather complicated and convoluted topic. An organic tea would be one that is from plants that have been organically grown for a period of time. There is certified organic, and then non certified.

Organically grown tea plants have not been exposed to chemicals ... fertilizers, pesticides, etc. Also in the harvesting and processing of the leaves, nothing like artificial flavors, preservatives have been added.
