Sunday TeaRoom TeaDay 6/13/10 Snack Vice Squad raid!

by Chip » Jun 13th, '10, 02:34

A new TeaDay is upon us, rejoice! Celebrate and share with us what is in your cup throughout the day.

Yesterday we discussed "new teas." You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.

Today's TeaPoll (well, not exactly a TeaPoll, well, not a TeaPoll at all) and discussion topic...let's get frivolous and get to know each other a little more. I believe virtually everyone has a snack vice....or more than one. But what is your numero uno snack vice. This is a tough one...to pick just one...lots of luck!

I am looking forward to sharing tea and snacks with everyone today. Munch and bottoms up.

This is a no-brainer. I grew up in a house where the cookie jar was never empty. We all learned quite early how to make our own. Decades later, and there is a deep, pervasive sense of uneasiness anytime my own cookie jar is empty, so it rarely is.

Quite unusually for a Saturday, I have not had any cookies with my tea, not with my morning Honoyama Shincha from Yuuki-Cha, nor with the midday Bao Zhong oolong from HouDe, nor with my evening Honey Orchid Phoenix Oolong from TeaHabitat. I rarely have cookies with breakfast, but usually there are some with lunch or an afternoon snack.

Must rectify this tomorrow.

Just for Victoria, I'm going to try posting a little more often and not being so anti-social.

My vote goes for "cheesy" since my snack vice would be fine cheeses. Sadly, most don't go so well with tea.

Tea of the moment: Iced Oriental Beauty from Floating Leaves.

I am getting nuts for nuts :D

Could die for some macadamia :)
Most of the time rather pure - sometimes salted.

Like pecanuts, peanuts, hazelnuts, cashews and so on.

In the moment I am realy in wasabi nuts - whow - thats flavour.

cheers
Marco

Wow I don't know if I can pick a number one snack vice. I guess it depends on the mood but I usually waver between sweet and salty. Chocolate being the number one sweet and chips and cheese salsa being the number one salty.

My biggest vices are chocolate, candies (especially caramels, oh yes  ), and soft-serve frozen yogurt. My snack of choice, though, is fruit, mainly apples.

Right now, I'm on a caramel kick. I really love caramels by this Japanese company called "Morinaga".

Pu-erh from my pu brick this morning. Yummy!

I checked Other -- there was no All Of The Above!

Absolute hands down favorite snack-- Abbaye de Bel'loc, a sheep's milk cheese from France.

I find that most black teas go very well with cheese. :D

Adagio's Black Dragon Pearls this morning.

Crunchy and salty for me - especially popcorn. On the other hand, there are some days when only chocolate will do!

No tea yet this morning. Yesterday was spent catching up on tea drinking. I was up at 4 a.m. to walk in our local Relay for Life (for American Cancer Society) and I forgot to bring my bottle full of tea. Luckily, I was only there until 8 a.m. and was able to get my caffeine intake started as soon as I got home!

How much do you have to pay for it in the US?

No special snack vice for me: I don't eat between meals.

Kuradashi gyokuro this afternoon.

Olivier, I get for $29.00 a pound. It's my 13 year old granddaughter's favorite cheese, too. :)

Hey, nice to see you!! :)

For me it's a toss up between Salty & Crunchy and Cheesey. I really like popcorn and I like cheese on my popcorn, Parmesan, shredded, it's all good. And then there is just snacking on cheese; NY Cheddar, Gouda, whatever, and with a crisp Asian pear, yum! Then as Marco said, let not forget nuts! Pistachios reign supreme. I just had a bag of Salt & Pepper Pistachios from Costco, that were delish!

In my cup this morning - trying to drink up last year's FF Balasun Darjeeling before my kilo (well not quite) of 2010 FF arrive.

Have a nice day everyone!

Those pistachios do sound yummy! I also like almonds and usually have a can of them in my desk at work. I love the Soy-Wasabi flavored ones.

Black Spiral first thing this morning and now I've moved on to some Keemun.

I should have said junk food! Though 30 USD per pound cheese does not fit into the junk food category either!

Ha, forgot the nutz. Healthy, yep ... in moderation. My weak spot in the nut category is cashews! Whole, jumbo and unsalted!

I put on m 15-20 pounds in a few months when I went on a nut binge. This was coupled with a sudden stop in bike training after an injury, so I kept eating and stopped training ... suddenly none of my pants fit.

Chocolate of the dark persuasion reigns supreme. But I have a soft spot for baked goodies as well. And putting the two together is a dangerous combination.

Began the TD with an organic Sae Midori shincha with the Mrs. and next back to Matcha.

Chocolate (dark!) and cookies are probably my worst vice. While I love a good chocolate chip or sugar cookie, thin, crunchy, melt in your mouth ginger cookies are something I cannot stop eating!

Started today with Golden monkey, then sampling of Adagio's shincha. I also received the free sample of Spring Darjeeling from them and tried that for the first time today, and really liked this! I have not had Darjeeling much so don't have much to compare it to, but this looks to be something I will try again.
