I thought this was interesting. I've never seen anything like it before. Has anyone else?

Re: Stone Chinese teapot
Could be a type of jade perhaps, given the price? I have seen them occasionally, and they are always realllly small as is this one.

Looks like a type of jade or nephrite. Someone will come along and claim it is porous.TokyoB wrote:I thought this was interesting. I've never seen anything like it before. Has anyone else?

Definitely a type of jade. I'm sure those are veins not cracks.
I'd love to clean it up and give it a try.
Sweet little pot with some stories to tell.

What, you've never read Billy Moods' articles on jade pots? Since they are very slightly radioactive, they affect the quality of the tea at a molecular level, resulting in a better aroma and mouth feel. Come on... Hojo talks about it all the time. He has lab results to prove it!Tead Off wrote: Looks like a type of jade or nephrite. Someone will come along and claim it is porous.

Re: Stone Chinese teapot
and don't forget with jade teapots they take away about .0000000000001% of the aroma but will make up for this by giving you 10X more luck but only every 3rd tuesday after you've eaten strawberry ice cream under the shade of an oak tree at 2pm. Seriously though its vanilla ice cream
That is a nice little pot though. Has anyone here used a jade teapot? I never even knew they made those.

At Wing Hop Fung, in back corner near the very very expensive puerhs, there is a display of teapots in various materials--several different stones, including marble and maybe one in a light colored jade, can't remember for sure. They were all quite expensive on that shelf and didn't seem that practical for regular use, so I never looked too closely.

Besides Maifan stones, I dont see any reason for using a solid stone crafted teapot.
