Sunday TeaDay 6/27/10 TeaChat Sunday Comics?

by Chip » Jun 27th, '10, 01:45

Greetings everyone to TeaDay. Please do drop in and share what is in your cup throughout the day.

Yesterday we discussed fave book quotes. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic ... and I hope you do.

Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. Jack_TeaChat unwittingly suggested this on the forum several days ago. Hopefully a fun topic.

Nearly everything I write is comical.

Currently drinking a 1991 Buddha Hand. Aged Oolong rocks.

Funny to see you Trioxin! Ha!

I love to laugh and will often laugh at myself, but nothing comes to mind immediately.

2010 Darjeeling oolong from Camellia Sinensis to begin the day.

Have a nice day everyone!

Thinking of my very first posts on the TeaChat boards... I um.. Had a unique customer service experience, that looking back, was kinda funny. Let's just say I'll be double checking my address before my next order.

No tea yet this morning.

I don't think so, at least nothing comes to mind.

No tea yet, got up a little late, so just getting breakfast (tea will be involved though, as I'm still a little groggy). Snowbud is likely.

I checked "Maybe," because as a noob, i probably did, but don't know it!!! I frequently write potentially embarrassing things, but I laugh at myself a lot and don't really embarrass easily!

No tea yet today and only one cup of Harney & Son's Hot Cinnamon yesterday, made for me by my sweet DH, using one of their tea sachets -- the pyramid shaped ones.

Yes, absolutely!

Pretty early on someone asked a seemingly inoccuous question, do you sweeten tea? I figured I would enlighten everyone. HA, really bad idea. I think the sweetener crowd called for my lynching but gave me a pretty thorough beating first. I literally almost left the forum.

Understand, I was well meaning, but certainly did not present my argument particularly well. It was here that I learned an invaluable addage from a member named Phyl (you oldies remember him!).
Phyl wrote:"drink what you like, like what you drink!"
Something he adapted from his wine drinking. He then was able to share his viewpoint without any shed blood.

This quote became my personal forum mantra from that day forward. I learned you can almost say anything on the forum if you attach this quote!

Began the TD with a tasting of Kunpu from Den's with the Mrs. Yummm ...

Well, many times when I write about my initial opinion of a tea, I end up looking back later and going, "Wow! What was I thinking?!" The magnolia-scented pu-erh that I absolutely loved when I first tried it has become really overwhelming, and the Keemun that I "couldn't get into" has become a favorite. So I've learned to hold my opinions until I've sufficiently experimented with brewing parameters. :)

Finishing the magnolia pu-erh right now. It appears to have gone out of stock in the shop where I bought it, so knowing my taste buds' perverse sense of humor, I'll really want it again in like a year, having forgotten how overwhelming the perfuminess is.

I voted "maybe" cause nothing's coming to mind.
That being said, I almost certainly have blundered.

Matcha seiun followed by shincha yuuki yutaka in my wan now.
Cheers.

Maybe: I'm sure I've misinterpreted or been misinterpreted regarding posts meant as jokes, but can't think of any horribly ignorant tea faux pas here, because I think the worst phase of my newbie tea ignorance was passed & posted about elsewhere, before I was pointed to this place.

This morning some Anji white tea, then a sample of Bao Zhong. Shortly will be off to Wing Hop Fung to replace yet another couple of broken gaiwan parts (!), to again have a complete set of four for comparison brewing/tastings.

Are you asking me this question? you must be kidding. For sure not. And hey what concerns me what I have said yesterday?
<ironic off>

Hihi - I think I am sometimes a little bit to direct in my statements and sometimes I think of me being funny but afterwards I realize that it can easily be misinterpreted. - like everything that is written on a forum.
So don't take everything to serious.
And hey - I often laugh about myself :D

Again lots of different tea today - such a nice weekend with sun and tea on the balcony. :)
I opened a new matcha - Uji Organic Matcha from O-Cha - and WOW - I have to say it is soooooo delicious for me - you really taste the green - it's kind of like chewing the leaves. :)

I'm sure I have posted some big-time eye-rollers

Nilgiri Neela from Tao of Tea in my cup earlier today. Now iced Red Rose. (made by hubby, can't complain!)

I said "maybe", as I'm sure there are some things, but none really come to mind.

Today I sampled the Maiko Kinari shincha from the OTTI. I definitely liked it, review coming soon.

Later planning on another session with the '09 Menghai "Hong Yun" shupu. With this tea, I found that it is actually possible to oversteep a shu. It doesn't become bitter, but the flavors do get lost in the richness. After I realized that the first 4 infusions must be <10 seconds, this tea became one of my favorite shupus. :D

Yup. Ended up with Snowbud with, well, I guess it was really lunch... The last of one container of Wuyi just a bit ago in my gaiwan, had to watch the infusion times because there were so many small bits (being the end of that container, everything settled out, sadly). Just meant I had a bigger (6oz) mug sitting nearby to put tea in when it was done steeping to get it out of the leaves in the gaiwan.
