Kukicha in a Kyusu

by bryan_drinks_tea » Jul 3rd, '10, 16:43

I recently purchased some Kukicha, and I was wondering if it was okay for me to brew it in my kyusu. I haven't done it yet, since I don't want to mess up the layering/patina inside the pot. let me know what you guys think.

thanks,

B

of course no problem there
I would say that's what most people brew their kukicha in

even if its an expensive unglazed one it won't adversely affect its patina unless you brew it for a couple days or so...even then I imagine with proper washing and boiling water you can bring it back to normal again

Sure, not a problem unless you mean a roasted version that might be called kiki-houjicha or houji-kukicha ...

If it is green, your kyusu will sing
If it is brown, your kyusu will frown
