Cigar Box Travel Tea Set

by dbradley » Jul 4th, '10, 15:11

So I had a few cigar boxes lying around and I decided to get some use out of them. I pulled out my drill and now I have a new travel gong fu tea set. I also have a small electric kettle that will accompany this set.

Very innovative!! Have you tried it yet?
Looks to me like you might need some molding
of some type on the top of the "tray" box to keep
some of the liquid from running off.

Nice look!

I have used it and it works fine if I pour very slow and carefully but adding rim is a great idea. It's not waterproof so I have a plastic container that fits under the holes to catch everything.

Yeah, I saw the plastic, that was great.

Not sure what you could use to make a rim that would look decent.
Looks nice now. Guess it depends on how handy you are. ;)

I was thinking if you made another one and had two similar boxes,
you could take the top off one and glue it upside down to the other,
then drill through both.

DH is a cigar fanatic so I have like a zillion + boxes here. I might
try to make one myself. :)

Maybe add a drawer pull handle to carry it also.
:)

Great idea to flip the lid ... hmmm. I have a few other boxes so it might be worth a try.

Nice idea, I would have never thought of that . It looks good. I have a few cigar boxes laying around too. I may have to give this a try.
