Good morning Tea Peeps! It is a new TeaDay! Rejoice and drink tea and share what is in your cup with us throughout the day.
Yesterday we discussed tea changes in the event we had unlimited funds. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.
Today's teaPoll and discussion topic. Complimenting yesterday's topic. If you had unlimited funds, would the TeaWares you use change? A lot, a little, hardly at all, not really, nope? Please share what changes you would make!
I am looking forward to sharing this TeaDay with everyone. Bottoms up!

Re: Tuesday TeaDay 7/13/10 No limits and the golden TeaChalice?
Nah I love them just the way they are, no need for more. Although I could use a brazier!
No tea yet, it's just too hot!

The type of teaware is unlikely to change, at least for the present, but I'd be much less picky about what gets bought - right now it's very limited to a) filling a need, or b) OMG must have RIGHT NOW! (Sorry to yell, but that's more or less how I actually feel about recently acquired pieces).
Off to work, so tea shortly!

Maybe a little. I'd finally get the silver kettle I've been wanting.

Oh baby!!!!!!! I can dream can't I? It'd change a lot.
There are so many stunning chawan, yunomi, mizusashi, chaire and the like by so many great Japanese ceramic artists including Ningen Kokuho (Living National Treasures) that I'd love to be able to use.
Amass the collection for use in my lifetime, will a favorite piece each to my family members, and then bequeath the rest of it to the ceramics department of the college for a teaching collection.
Oops.... woke up.
best,
...............john

Wouldn't change a thing. I love my cutesy little pots. I debated getting a 3rd one but gave up when I realized I ran out of room in my display shelf. I don't DARE put it in a cabinet where little hands could accidentally knock it down.
Re: Tuesday TeaDay 7/13/10 No limits and the golden TeaChalice?
I would change a LOT! I know that most of the teas I drink would be fine with a cup and the $1.00 strainer I have, but I just love the look of so much of the teaware out there. I love drinking out of a handmade teacup.
I would also like to try out yixing teapots for oolongs but have held back on this.
Of course part of this would be a nice display cabinet for it all!
Started today with a nice strong assam, then YM shincha at work. For this afternoon have something new to try - Houji-Kukicha from Den's.

Speaking of Teaware, tonight at 9 pm Eastern time, I will be posting the TC TA SO Round 2 under Teaware and Accessories. The featured artisan is our ShyRabbit, Michael Coffee. So don't forget to check it out tonight.

I would definitely indulge myself in some of the nice hand-made teaware out there.

Re: Tuesday TeaDay 7/13/10 No limits and the golden TeaChalice?
Thinking practically, probably not much. Again, like with the unlimited tea budget, I'd acquire a few well-broken in top-quality yixings and zhuni pots, brew some favorite teas in them, and see what difference they really make. And I'd be able to commission some special pieces to replace my much enjoyed, but could be better, other pieces--the kyusus, the glass pots, sets of matched gaiwans in several sizes for tastings, and the ugly, but oh-so-practical, kamjoves I am presently using for larger-scale brewing.
Or the really impractical pie in the sky version, where I hire artisans to make tea wares for me, and work out an arrangement with other tea lovers to break in each pot for a particular fine tea, brew it a few times, and then give it away. The other tea lover gets a good quantity of that tea for the project, and gets to keep the pot after I've tried the combination a few times. That way I get a new-to-me, but already broken in, pot for every tea!

If I had unlimited funds . . .
I would buy whatever I liked the look of; wouldn't even glance at the right-hand column!!!!
Both Eastern and Western style TeaWare.
LT assam again this morning; will have to order more of this 2nd flush! A fantastic cuppa'.

while my tea wouldn´t change a lot the teaware sure would! I use an ugly little glass pot for everything because I cheap out on teaware to buy better leaves.
Would quickly develop a collection of teaware I like the look of

Re: Tuesday TeaDay 7/13/10 No limits and the golden TeaChalice?
I do not think the teawares I would use would change vastly, I would probably have a lot more teaware (unlimited funds and all), but I would have probably put together some spectacular pieces just to look at: Kaneta Masasanao(Sp?) chawans for example.
I would love to be able to see and hold a thousand dollar plus chawan in my hand, I just do not see it happening ever realistically.

"A lot" is almost an understatement for me!
Like Laura99, I'm just using a cup and strainer. If I had unlimited funds, I'd get a bunch of different styles of teapots and cups-- a lot of Japanese ones especially. I'd also probably get a lot of flack from my parents for buying so much teaware.
Rose congou in my cup right now.

A thousand dollars is the "cheap stuff".

Sakuma-san was the potter that Hamada Shoji stayed with when he first moved to Mashiko. Known... but not very famous.
Seriously.
