A tale of two kyusu

by Victoria » Jul 15th, '10, 12:17

Once upon a time I had a Kikumaru kyusu from Rishi. It is a nice pot, a creamy yellow color. Something about the color never feel right. Someone here a few months ago posted a Japanese website that showed Kikumaru pots in four different colors. And one, ohhh one, was pristine white! So I asked Artistic Nippon to purchase it for me.

When the pot arrived it was only slightly lighter than the one I already had. Not white, but yes lighter. Now I have two Kikumaru kyusu, yin and yang. The one on the left is the "white" one. :)

Yin and yang ... maybe if they were black and white? Not much of a difference. I saw the one Japanese site that has this so called white right next to the creamy Kikumaru, looked like a bigger difference.

Are these the two you mentioned that are for sale in TD?

Yes. For sale. I like them, but don't think I will use them.
I had one for sale for awhile here in Swap but no nibbles.
I thought I might go the eBay route when I am forced to,
for space sake.

Nice pots, one brand new and one barely used. While Toru
was looking for white and buying this one for me he stumbled
upon a vintage white Banko he forgot he had. That sweet pot
has turned out to be ... the one. I don't think I've posted it
yet. There is a story there too. :)

I've been to the Artistic Nippon store, it's easy to see how Toru finds stuff that he forgot he had. He's got drawers and drawers of cups and pots.

These lovely kyusu have found new homes. One on each side of the country. :) I just love a happy ending. :)
