by Chip » Jul 17th, '10, 03:30

Happy happy happy TeaDay everyone. Celebrate by sharing what is in your cup throughout the day.

Friday we discussed 2 broken kyusu ... and what I actually did with them. You can see here: http://www.teachat.com/viewtopic.php?f= ... 30#p162428 How did I do?

This weekend's TeaPoll and discussion topic. You decide, are you FIRST a collector of TEA or of TEAWARE? Share what you think.

I am looking forward to sharing this TeaDay with everyone. Bottoms up.

I vote teaware

I think good teaware brings a higher level of enjoyment of the teas being brewed. Along with being able to brew the particular tea to its potential. I personally like handmade wares, factory pieces seem soulless and sad.

I collect tea first. I've been making due with the same couple of cups for the past few years, but they serve me well. I like to try new kinds of tea, so I end up "collecting" a lot of it. Eventually, I'll start collecting teaware more seriously as well, though.

Pu-erh this morning.

Sorry, both is not an accetable answer, but if it was ... is what I checked. Why? Because I already had a long time large collection of teaware and tea items when i found TeaChat, and have added more (Eastern style) and I definitely have become a collector of tea because I'm trying all sorts of new teas! :P , Chip!

No tea yet this morning, but it will be a black -- perhaps my new Japanese black. :)

It's all about the tea.

In my cup this morning Tea Masters Da Yu Ling. Yep, quite
delicious just as I anticipated.

Well the West Coast has finally caught up with the rest of the country. Triple digit heat expected here today. Stay cool everyone!

I'd have to say "teaware". It seems to "collect" around the studio.

best,

I have more different teas in my cabinets than teawares, and suspect that will always be the case.

Today finishing the Tenryu Misakubo shincha from Yuuki-cha.

Yesterday was a very nice teaDay: Sayamakaori shincha to start; then a nice morning with a thermos of quite nice 'Chin Shin' oolong from Zen Tara (a sample received with the not-so-inspiring 'gaba' oolong I'd wanted to try), floral and spicy, a lot like a tie guan yin; and then I boldly brewed up a thermos full of a new Dan Cong, 2009 Kan Tou - Stone Wall Edge from Tea Habitat. Mmmm.

Now to figure out what to fill the thermos with for a long drive today. Hmmmm.

Tea definitely tea - I like drinking it and I like tasting. I'd like to taste everything. But those pots and cups - if I look at pictures - oh my oh my - I want to have them and to admire them - hmmmm - teaware? But its all in drinking and tasting - so tea. Oh I'm so unsure...........
I need a second option

Opened the day with coffee and breakfast. And had a nice Shincha in the morning. Kokeicha at lunchtime and a nice Matcha Izumi after lunch. Now I am enjoying a Kabusecha from Aiya and thinking of what comes next :)

I can easily say that for many years, I would have answered TEA. I had my cheap cup and a pot and LOTS of TEA. TOOOOO MUCH TEA! Too much of a perishable product. It really began to stress me out.

Then along came the internet, Kyusu- by the score available, Hagi which is just so crazy different, and exotic Asian porcelain ... and last but not least, enlightened TeawareArtisans!!! Thank goodness I am not actively collecting SP Yixing!!!

And now, despite owning the TeaFridge, I have surprisingly little tea.

TEAWARE it is! No doubt about it.

Gotta go with teaware. I collect teaware and did before I even drank tea regularly. I acquire tea, but don't really collect it.

However, Zoop would like to know, what use is a teacup if it hasn't got any tea in it?

I believe that is the Sansai Hagi SO #6, Geek? Nicely done and thanks for coloring our TeaDay!

Testing ... testing ... it works. Repaired Kyusu with a collected Hagi Biwa, Hagi SO #? ... with some major Fukamushi Sae Midori.

I wouldn't say I *collect* tea, but when the $$ are available, I will usually choose to order tea rather than teaware.

Some Tao of Tea Osmanthus Oolong in my cup this morning.

Woh, love the photos G & C!
(nice looking repair C, may it prove strong!)

Def tea ware collector.
Thought about both, the 'non' option, but realized I don't collect tea, I drink it!

Wako matcha.
Now quaffing my first tastes of shincha magokoro.
Mmmmm.
Cheers.
